Other problems will come up (heh) if one partner is significantly more attractive/charming than the other.
Major re-orgs like this w/o warning? Sounds to me like you're being set up to fail.

I'd start floating my resume around, doubly so if the company's doing cutbacks, etc.
My concern about the IB program is that if your kid doesn't get the full-on IB diploma, he/she gets nothing at most colleges but the intangible value of having worked really hard (and possibly some GPA weighting). AP classes are easier to translate into college credits. OTOH, if you can get the full IB diploma that would make your kid all sorts of awesome (and even if you went to Woodson, your kid could probably transfer to Robison or Marshall's IB program.)
Of the three, Woodson has the best test scores by far, but you already knew that.

Woodson's also probably the most centrally located in terms of potential commutes around Northern VA, although Lee is probably best if you're a Fed that'll be working in DC at (fill in agency) for the next 15-30 years, as it's a quick drive to the Springfield Metro.

Consider walkable neighborhoods, whether walkability to shopping/entertainment is important, talk to neighbors, get a feel for the area's sense of community, etc., etc.

Check for crime in the immediate vicinity of your potential home:

Test scores went down last year, the year when Rhee fired 300 teachers, accused them of being predators, and then found the money a few months later.

Yep, that's competence for me and the ONLY person who can save DCPS.

Add in the arrogance tipified by the baseball ticket spat, the no-bid pass-through contracts, the bike trips, and we have a guy who probably reached his Peter Principle levels as Councilman.

I live outside DC and I suspect many/most of the "ZOMG Gray's the re-incarnation of Marion Barry" posters don't live in DC either.

The Community Reinvestment act that forced banks to lend to people that in the past would not have qualified for mortgage loans also had a hand in this. How about the politicians like Chris Dodd taking favorable mortgages from Countrywide and then not overseeing the mortgage industry?

There were many factors. Wall Street was one of the players.

The Community Re-investment Act was passed under the Carter Administration. Why did sub-prime loans suddenly start becoming a problem post-2002, 25 years later?

The bulk of the problem occurred under a R President and an R Congress. Waters/Frank were members of the minority party at the time. But nice try at the "both sides are bad, so blame Democrats" thing.

Look at listings for $550K and negotiate them down to $500.

Indeed, but only if the following are not important to you and your family:

a garage
a decent yard
modern bathrooms
a modern kitchen
more than four bedrooms
more than two full baths
lack of musty, skanky smells
no sketchy neighbors out smoking on front stoop

I know. I live in Vienna, and dodging the gunfire is just something I build into my day.

Are you really trying to paint *VIENNA* as rundown/ghetto?

The ramblers are in varying stages of repair and niceness, ranging from $425-450k for essentially the land to about $525-$550k for all-brick ramblers with finished basements, updated kitchens/baths, a second full bath in the basement, etc. Lot sizes range from 0.20 to 0.30 acres. Whether that is 'decent' or not is up to the individual.

Be helpful if OP mentioned (1) her requirements for a house in terms of bedrooms, baths, age., etc. (did she do that?) and (2) whether her DH sees himself staying at that job for a career. I might even consider areas in Rockville in that case, it seems Rockville HS is OK (in the middle of the table at least with test scores). If DH is going to stay long term, then I'd even expand out to Poolesville (yes, a few SFHs zoned to Poolesville HS are under $500k.)

OTOH, how did Potomac get *townhouses*? Some exclusive suburb Montgomery County has! They wouldn't let any of that anywhere *NEAR* Great Falls!

There's lots of people making lots of money here. Salaries that get you an acre on the golf course in other parts of the country get you a 30-year-old split level here. Make your pile and consider moving back and taking a 50% pay cut if that is possible/desirable.
The track seems to be trending westward over the past few days, and it's been getting closer to the Carolinas. FWIW, only one of Weather Underground's models are having it make landfall, and it's not predicted to strengthen -- there's some dry air masses near Earl that will try and disrupt it.
If they are liking him already, this is one more reason to like him. If they're inclined against him, this is one more reason to not like him.
Many Republican voters just want the government out of their Medicare. In 2040, there will be voters wanting government out of their Obamacare.

If not then MAYBE you can be bothered by this fact. If you do then you have no right to hold any ill feeling due to insecurity problems.

Also, it is apparent that you have accepted these friends if they are congratulating you on your baby.

Agreed. No indication of inappropriate contact with these friends, or large chunks of unaccounted for time.

The only difference between these two and ordinary exes or "friends with benefits" is that he had two chicks at the same time, man.
Either forgive him -- and ensure he has changed somewhat -- or see a lawyer.

Don't "forgive" him and then use it as a club to bludgeon him in every. single. disagreement.
Yes. Absolutely.

I would have found somewhere more family-friendly to have moved before kids and the RE bubble, my wife and I are not huge partiers.

One and done. We tried the Jimmy Carter experiment once and it didn't work. It's not working now.

And we cut taxes, deregulated, etc., between 2001 and 2008. How'd that work out?

OP sounds like one of those "Democrats" that hasn't voted for an actual Democrat at the federal and state level in 30+ years.
