Sorry For The Beck Thing

Anonymous
Just want to extend a heartfelt apology to anyone offended by the de facto White Pride parade going on at the Lincoln Memorial. Obviously, folks have the right to peacefully assemble, but the place and time chosen for this event is pretty disgusting, and gratuitously provocative. So to my neighbors of all races, I'd just like to apologize for the white folk who make us all look like we're living in 1964 Alabama.

I would like to apolgize for narrow minded thinking esp. since a relative of Martin Luther King will be speaking-enough of the anti white jargon..

In this country "Freedom of Speech" is a guaranteed Constitutional right even if you don't like what is being said. Glen Beck, et. al, have as much right to speak and assemble as do MLK group. Shame on you for wanting to take away someone else's rights by trying to be so damn politically correct.

Yep - and he seems on the verge of lunacy to me.

No one cares what you think. Sorry.

Actually, everyone does. I'm just like Glen Beck.

For heaven's sake. Neither the OP nor anyone else has been trying to interfere with the Constitutional rights of Glen Beck & his followers. The OP simply said that she finds the gathering "disgusting, and gratuitously provocative."

I agree with her 100%. I find this gathering incredibly offensive, and can think of nothing worse than my being mistaken for someone in town for that event, simply because of the color of my skin.

You don't have to attend and if you are judging the political rights and beliefs of others by skin color you are just a prejudiced as you appear to be accusing Beck and his crowd. It was peaceful and he did not taunt any one or any group. Al Sharpton did when he said in reference to the Mall,. "They have the right place but the wrong message." There was nothing incendiary about Beck's remarks. I do not agree with most of what Beck, Palin or any right-wing reactionaries rhetoric and I am also not a fan of radical left-wingers and their rhetoric.

This is ridiculous. Unless you are one of the Beck supporters how can you possibly apologize on their behalf. I don't assume all muslims are terrorists, or all blonds are dumb, or all white people are glenn beck supporters. I assume others see that support for political issues is not linked to the color of one's skin or religion or hair color any other distinguishing characteristic.

I reread my post and nowhere do I see the word "apology". I am not apologizing for Bech because there is no need to do so. He and his supporters have the same right toassemble as the supporters of MLK's "I Have A Dream Speech." I think MLK would also have supported Becj's right to speak and his supporters to assemble because he was for "Equality" not "Special Treatment."

Beck instead of Bech; Beck instead of "Becj's"

Not what I said at all. I said that I felt ashamed to be the same race as 99% of the folks at the Beck rally, largely because if I move outside my neighborhood where people know me, folks might assume I was in town for the march. The thought of being mistaken for one of those people makes me sick.
