I guess I shouldn't be surprised by this sort of thing any more, but I still get surprised. The poster of the message at 11/16/2011 16:03 is the same poster of the message above at 11/15/2011 15:53. The poster also posted the message on the first page of this thread at 11/14/2011 13:35. I am also quite confident that the same poster posted the message on the first page at 11/12/2011 16:40 and the post on this page at 11/16/2011 01:54.

Perhaps this poster has had a bad experience at Capital City. Perhaps the fact that the poster is a BASIS booster (hereafter known as a "BB" since I think we will be seeing a lot of them) has nothing to do with the messages. But, it is quite strange that the poster has posted so many seemingly independent criticisms of Cap City. It suggests some sort of an agenda.

In response to the specific question asked, "Can a couple of racist individuals in an organization prevent minorities from functioning at their best" (paraphrasing a bit), I would say that based on my experience, minorities could still function at their best, but that their performance would not be fairly evaluated. Their failures would be magnified and their successes minimized. Meanwhile, the exact opposite would happen with non-minorities. The result is that two minority employees are fired for cause while a non-minority whom you describe as "professionally incompetent" keeps her job.

The "Report" form is not set up to use your logged in identity. But, since you included your email address, I could have emailed a response.

The posts you reported were all from different posters. I would argue that those were not exactly examples of trolling so much as just rude responses. In some cases, the point of the poster was actually valid, it was just presented in a pretty impolite manner. Trolling is an intentional attempt to stir up a debate. DCUM has always had its share of trolls and I'm not sure that there is an increase in their number. But, I think there has been an increase in the number of overly rude posts. We also have always had our share of those, but I think that we have a larger number of users for whom rude responses are the normal type of reply and who rarely post responses that aren't rude. I have been starting to track such posters and encouraging them to change their ways.

The iPhone-comptiable units are designed with special insulation to avoid interference.
I have the iHome iP90 which I like quite a bit. I almost never use the remote, but it does have snooze on it. My only complaint is that it doesn't allow you to set the volume for the alarm. So, the alarm goes off with whatever volume the radio happens to be set at. If you decide to rock out one afternoon and then forget to turn down the volume before going to sleep, you will get a pretty rude awakening in the morning. Other than that, I'm very happy with it.

The TTC forum is a place for people to find support as they confront what is for many a very difficult challenge. The last thing the participants of that forum need is someone coming in and attacking them. As such, your thread was extremely off topic. I didn't even get around to reading about your view regarding natural selection and don't really care what view you hold.

Also, I will take you a bit more seriously if/when you learn the difference between censorship -- an activity undertaken by the government -- and moderation -- an activity conducted by a website administrator.

BASIS DC is opening up next year for grades 5-8 and will add a grade up every year.
You may go on this forum and attend one of their meetings this week.

Wow! Is this the way that BASIS DC is going to promote itself? By bashing alternatives. Maybe you guys can get a track record in DC that consists of something more than forum posts before start trashing other schools?

And, yes, I am a Cap City parent. Sue me.

It will be a temporary forum. What else should I do with the posts? If you want a permanent Penn State forum, the answer is "no".

I actually might do this simply to get the threads out of other forums. It would only be temporary and once the attention goes away, all the forum and all of the messages would get removed. Let's see how things go over the next couple of days.

Newt said that his recent Greek cruise (the event that provoked his staff to quit) helped him learn about the Greek debt crisis.
You're joking! He had the gall to say that? You'd think he'd hope people would forget his little cruise crisis.

Wow, the Republican primary this year is the biggest circus of all time. It has morphed into a Mexican telanovela!

It sounds like a joke, but is not:

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/11/14/8802631-gingrich-on-rising-poll-numbers-this-is-a-wild-race

Gingrich said his vacation early in the summer to Greece, a controversial break from the campaign trail that contributed a mass resignation of staff in June, was instructive for him given the Greek economy's debt crisis.

"An observation strategically about where we are ... was very much influenced when I visited Greece in June and talked to people what they were faced with in Greece. And I listened to them," he said.

Hence the reason takoma included the sly smile in his message. Now, if Mary Brooks Beatty has home in Rehoboth, this will be a done deal.
It looks like she will have to run against Tim Day in the primary. Then, if she wins she can challenge Brown.

WTF??

Someone should alert INTERPOL that we have found Eric Toth's current location (probably in Thailand). Only he could write such a thing. INTERPOL should pull this IP address, stat, and trace it.

Yes. Yes. Yes. How do we alert Jeff and Maria?

I already saw the post. The IP address is local. INTERPOL wouldn't be interested.

I guess I'm not the only one thinking this. But, Jeff, isn't an IP address simply tied to a computer? Can't you take your lap top anywhere?

No. IP addresses are not connected to a computer. IP addresses are assigned to networks. If you connect to Comcast, you get an address that is assigned to Comcast. If you disconnect your computer from Comcast and connect via wifi at Starbucks, you get an address that has been assigned to the Starbucks network (I believe Starbucks is actually using AT&T's network, but I could be wrong about that). The address in this thread that everyone is excited about is tied to a network in the DC area. The address has a posting history would not be expected of Eric Toth.
