I may have found the problem that was preventing you from logging in. Can you try again?

Edith:

I can't find any errors logged that appear related to the problem you describe. Can you please outline the steps you took leading to the error? For instance, did you click on the "edit" button and then received the error? Also, can you please copy the entire error message and post it for me to read?

Thanks!

Thanks, yeah there are a few features like that which will take a bit to get used to, but are pretty nice.

I'll look into this further later this afternoon. Now I'm feeling challenged.

Typo which has been corrected. I guess I need to step up my search for a spell checker.

Please let me know how to find it!
Thanks
PS...great work on the site!

I think this is what you are after:

Sorry for being the Difficult Child. Tried your fix, still a no-go. I have not yet seen if I have the same issue at home, I have only checked forums at work. Why don't I try to hop on-line from home tonight and then we'll know if it is an at-work firewall issue??

Yes, trying from home was actually going to be my next suggestion. Sorry for the continued difficulty.

It looks like when one page of topics fills up, it rolls over to a complete new page (i.e., appending new page to the front, not the rear). Since I'd been here before, I knew there were more topics so I clicked on page two, but other newer users might not realize to look further. Is there away to change the setup so that the first page is always a full page of topics?

This is behaving the same way for me. Obviously, that's not how we want it to work. I noticed a similar problem in the Website Feedback forum yesterday when it said there were 7 topics, but only one appeared. That wasn't a case of the topics being paginated as in the case of General Discussion. I don't know what is causing this, but I'll look into it and find a solution.

Slowly adjusting to all the bells and whistles of the new website...but don't see the spell check anywhere. Did that disappear or am I missing it?

Also, would it be possible to have an icon or a link to a legend with all the abbreviations? New users may not know that BF refers to breastfeeding or DH is dear husband, etc.

Thanks.

I didn't complain earlier, but now that this is turning into a trend, its "JSteele", not "JRSteele". If you insist on using my middle initial, its "V".

Also, let's try to keep this type of message in the "Website Feedback" forum since they don't deal with parenting.

In response to your question, it appears there is not a spell check included with the new forums. Frankly, I was not aware that there was a spell check available in the old forums. Spell check is provided by my web browser (Safari), so I haven't paid attention to whether the forums provided it or not. I'll check to see if spell-checking is available as an add-on.

I get my little logged in icon on all pages except forums (i.e. I appear to be logged in when I view events, topdoctors, mailing lists as well as on the homepage).

clarabow:

I may have found the problem. As I mentioned, passwords are encrypted in such a way that it is impossible to unencrypt them. I think that when your password is encrypted, the result has a space as the last character. This is causing a problem in creating the cookie needed to get logged into the forums. I'm not completely sure about this, but its my best guess. To test my theory, could you please change your password and then logout, clear cookies, login and then try the forums.

Thanks!
Anonymous wrote:This is a bit pedantic but I had hoped when you updated your website you would have corrected the plural of "forum" from "forums" to "fora".

Not pedantic, but using the term "corrected" suggests that "forums" is incorrect. That's not the case:

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/forum

fo·rum
–noun, plural fo·rums

Fora is also correct, but I don't believe I've ever heard it used with regard to online forums.

This is coming -- with user-rated answers so readers can vote for the best responses.

Humm, I just tested that combination with a test username and password and it seemed to work. I had to reload the forums index page to get my logged in status to appear (i.e. the "My Profile" link didn't show up until I refreshed my browser). It looks like you are behind a firewall or web proxy. That may have something to do with this problem. I am going to capture network traffic between you and the webserver and see if I spot a problem. I may have to change your password and test logging on myself, but I'll change it back when I'm done (I can only see the encrypted version of your password so I can take it out and put it back, but I can't tell what it is).

You account looks like its set up correctly, but the forum is not picking up your cookie. At this point I am not sure if this is a problem specific to you or a wider problem that you are the first to bring to my attention. If you still have patience to resolve this, please do the following:

1) Let me know what operating system and version you have on your computer;
2) Let me know what browser and version you are using;
3) Try to delete any cookies for "www.dcurbanmom.com" or "dcurbanmom.com";

To enable Javascript on your BlackBerry, open the browser, choose "Options" from the menu, choose "Browser Configuration", then click the box for "enable Javascript". I guess some older BBs don't have the Javascript option, but hopefully yours does.
