Is there or isn’t there a crisis on the border?

The Democrats are decrying the deportation efforts that are to begin on Sunday. They say it makes the United States 'less safe.' But what is wrong with deporting a person who is in the US illegally, has received due process, and has gotten a deportation order from a court? If that person cannot be deported, can any person be deported?

Deporting is fine.

Arresting babies, which is part of the plan, is not.

If the babies are part of a family which has been ordered deported, what is the issue exactly?

DP. I'm not 100% sure what you are referring to. Are you saying parents should be deported without their children??

I love how conservative talk about the Dems as if they are unified and of one mind on immigration. Hence the Pelosi-AOC disagreement. There is a huge spectrum of thought on immigration in the Democratic Party.

Right. The disagreement is about whether the border should be completely open or whether we should just never deport anyone ever. Very nuanced.

Democrats have shown that while they may differ in what they believe in terms of ICE, DHS, and providing financial assistance to help relieve overcrowding in holding facilities, they are unified in their total refusal to deport those here illegally. They are unified in their refusal to fund the building of border barriers. And, they are unified in the message they are sending to illegals that there are ways to avoid deportation.
Some Dems have expressed a desire to eliminate barriers at the border and to eliminate ICE, CBP, and other immigration law enforcement agencies. And, all presidential Dem presidential candidates would provide health insurance to illegal aliens.
So, it would seem that as a party, they are indeed in favor of open borders.

At this point I'm thinking we have no option but open borders. There is zero will for border integrity. Why fight it?Let's make it legal to employ whomever for pennies (there is zero will to enforce labor law) and enjoy it. I'm also in favor of a high level of state surveillance to fend off attacks such as those that took/take place in Europe on a regular basis due to their disgruntled immigrant population and porous borders. Perhaps stop processing people. Just collect fingerprints , names, country of origin and a a DNA swipe as they stroll through the checkpoint? A Republican who thought both sides could work together for sensible immigration reform, but now doesnt care.

I'm a Democrat and sick of it. Some counties in the DC area have had enormous impacts from illegal immigration. Politicians think it's just fine to have the vast majority of costs on the rumps of local tax payers. D-MD-Cummings, Hoyer. D-VA- Connolly. Connolly is great on border rants and b1tching about $ 4rth Parade but what is it doing for his constituents? https://connolly.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=3671 https://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2019/07/12/house-hearing-migrants-connolly-tom-homan-tsr-vpx.cnn/video/playlists/this-week-in-politics/

local taxes https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/taxes/real-estate/tax-rates

New idea- ask the newbie Wexton to float a bill in the USA House of Representatives to reimburse local counties for the costs of educating and social services for unaccompanied minors released too sponsors by the federal government. Maybe there could be a new "squad" of Dems from districts that incllude the top 50 receiving counties.

If Fairfax and PG got 5000 that's at least 15,000 annually out of local budgets or $75,000,000. Feds give 175/UAM so that's $875,000 and locals minus any piddle from the states pick up at least $75m.

MOCO got less but is owed at least 65m.

Exactly.
Open Border Democrats will never make it to The White House.

A question for trump supporters:
Is the inhumane treatment new, or did Obama do it too?

So...
Was Obama just as effective at handling this crisis?
