Is there or isn’t there a crisis on the border?

That is why the left is opposed, not because it doesn't oppose illegal immigration but because the multi-billion dollar wall won't address or repair the issues taking place. It is a waste of money.

This. I am opposed to illegal immigration and happy for any measure to enforce requiring work papers, deporting visa overstays, etc. A big ugly wall is a huge waste of money and just spitting into the wind. Do the other things first, if it’s still bad we can build the wall then. And elect an adult next time.

Article I read tonight in the NYT. Why has the border been busier the past month? Because reading this alarms me, a moderate Democrat. I see Trump using this to his benefit.

No need to be alarmed. A bunch of families fleeing violence is not a threat to you. Kim Jung Un continuing to develop a nuclear arsenal unchecked by Donald Trump is a much more serious threat.

What exactly did Barack and Joe do for EIGHT years?

Deport many of them.

seriously... if there is such a crisis at the border why the f*ck is Trump tweeting and going on and on about McCain in speeches and going golfing so much. FFS.

Would you go golfing if you had a crisis in your home?

Not an accurate statement. Most recent data indicates that 42% of people here illegally overstayed their visas. That is not the majority.
Congress members who have taken the time to go to the southern border have seen the problem first hand. And, they see that people are coming across at unprotected areas on a continuous basis.

Yes.. and that's not a new thing. It's been happening since the US became a country.

As has been stated numerous times, those folks come here because they can get jobs. Kill the demand. The supply will dry out.

But because companies like Trump Org and the farmers who overwhelmingly support Trump keep hiring illegal immigrants, they will keep coming.

Exactly.

The Deporter-in-Chief beefed up ICE and deported over 4 million immigrants while the media treated him as the best and most lovely President ever.

I wonder why they don't like Trump when he does the same.

If companies stopped hiring illegal aliens without a green card, then we would be less attractive to illegal immigration.

Why isn't there a discussion of making it a federal law to verify the employment status of all new hires? The government provides tools to do this, but many companies (for example Trump) opt out of the program. If a company is opting out of it, it can only be for one reason. ICE should focus on those companies. It's like a neon sign saying LOOK AT ME!!!

1. It doesn't appear to me that the media doesn't like that Trump is deporting people. I think it's the family separations, some of whom his administration has lost track of that the media focuses on

2. so you do agree that Obama/Biden did something in those eight years, right? He wasn't for open borders. Most Dems are not.

If you have to ask....

Seriously, did we have the "crisis" we are seeing now under Obama? No. The policy changed. Figure it out. Google is your friend.

Then this is what Democrats should be pushing as a talking point. Make the GOP squirm.

Obama managed to do this without constantly whining and tantruming for a stupid wall. Why can't Trump do the same?

+1 All that time and effort on twitter and whining about McCain could be better spent on actually doing something.

Because Trump is much lazier, stupider, and less capable than Obama.
