You are soooo right. My spouse and I did not sign the petition. We voted for Elaine. Next election we wont make that mistake again. Tholen is done. |
Brabrand was a disaster when it came to facilities/boundaries issues. He flat-out refused to exercise his authority to make administrative boundary adjustments, claiming boundary adjustments were entirely up to the Board, and then deferred to Platenberg when it came to where FCPS should spend its capital dollars. So he basically did nothing useful in an area where theoretically his prior familiarity with FCPS as a teacher and principal prior to taking the Superintendent's position would have been an asset. I'm tempted to say it would be impossible for his successor to do any worse in this area, but with FCPS these days you never know. |
Don't forget how under his "leadership" FCPS did not update their virtual (blackboard?) software for several years, leading up to the Spring 2020 virtual disasters where anyone could log into an FCPS classroom and disrupt. Remember that? As a result, scotty fired his chief of technology, as FCPS made national headlines for its failures in the virtual realm. Then he goes on CNN to proclaim that everything is fine - and I quote "We had two weeks where we struggled, and then we had two months where we soared" (in 2020). Does anyone recall FCPS "soaring??" But let's go full circle. After all this mess he created, through his incompetence and lack of leadership. the SB re-upped his contract at the end of 2020. They now own 100% of his failures. As if we needed another reason to get rid of Elaine.....! |

You could argue Brsbrand should have been summarily fired last year, but the “renewal” was a short-term extension that basically told the world that the time had come to part ways with Brabrand and that they were only keeping him around because of the challenges associated with finding a replacement during Covid.
It’s a bit of a public shaming, similar in certain ways to Tholen hearing from over 5000 of her constituents this year that they’d like to dump her. Hopefully they will both be replaced by people with more talent, brains, and courage soon. |
You don't get it. This issue is not going away and we are not going away. There is a reason Youngkin won. If you cant read what is happening right now, then you are blind. |
McAuliffe carried Fairfax handily so if the same voters turned out in 2023 theoretically someone as bad as Tholen could get re-elected. However, I think the voters that turn out during an off-year election will be especially motivated to replace her, and certainly many of them would bring up her failings regularly during a campaign if she were conceited enough to run again. The fact that she only interacts with Dranesville parents now in "moderated" PTA sessions where she gets to screen questions in advance and only answer those she wants to discuss suggests that she would struggle with a re-election campaign. |
Yes you are right - and I am referring to a pattern here - growing anger -- and it is all local. Yes McAwful won Fairfax, but not by as much as he would have a few years ago. We have 2 years before Tholen is up for reeleaction - she and the board will continue with their CRT, progressive, agenda. Over the next two years, more and more people, like me, will grow tired and frustrated. My comment on "you are blind" refers to that trend. As an analogy, if we were to have two more years of a progressive, Moon-Walking, black-face wearing, K, K, K uniform-wearing governor, and Democratic control of the House/Senate, Im not so sure McAwful would win Fairfax in 2023. The trend of growing anger would continue. I think that is what we will see with Tholen. Given all the stupid she has in store for us between now and 2023, the anger will continue to grow, and sworn Democrats will abandon her in higher numbers and with greater frequency between now and 2023. |
| I just hope Elaine does us all a favor and announces soon that she will not run again. That way we can focus on moving forward. |
+100% |
+200% |
| Tholen will have to announce she is not running with enough time left for her to try and pick a successor. With the election in Nov 2023, Im guessing she will try and float through 2022 and see which way the winds are blowing in Jan 2023; basically see if anyone remembers her actions (i.e. inactions) during the pandemic. And of course she will have to avoid any new mistakes in 2022. |

My vote depends on who the opponent is and what they say. I don't want to hear the anti-immigration, anti-LGBTQ , anti-Science crap that I tend to hear from the Republican opponents for these positions. I would love to see a moderate Democrat or Republican run who is focused on improving the schools and helping the kids. Run a candidate that would make the Trump base happy and I'll hold my nose and vote for one of these Progressive numbnuts that I really don't like.
There you have it. I didn't vote for Younkin because I don't agree with him on a whole series of issues. I won't vote for a Younkin type candidate for the School Board. Send me a moderate and I will be excited to vote for that person. |
Who would want an endorsement from that snobby hypocrite? |
+1000 The democrats in Virginia have been a complete clown-show for the past few years. From the school board to Richmond, they have made terrible decisions. |
| We have to replace these people in 2023. They continue to do so much damage to our kids, schools, and communities. |
