The Cohen petition needs to try to set one up near Fair Oaks or George Mason. Don't those areas vote for her too?
Thanks to all of the volunteers. |
| Thank you OP! |
For Cohen, the schoops she represents, with the exception of 2 or 3, had the highest percentages of families requesting to be in person. Most of her schools were in the 60 to 75% range for in person learning. She ignored what her constituents overwhelmingly wanted, and pivoted hard against that, being one of the most vocal school board members against reopening. If you wqtched the school board meetings over the past year, Cohen not only voted against reopening every chance she had except for the final vote, but actively and aggressively worked against the parents in her district. No matter her personal political leanings, her job is supposed to be non partisan and her sole role is to represent the will of her constituents, whether or not they align with her personal politics. She not only failed to represent them, she actively worked against the will expressed by the vast majority of the families in her district. She should be recalled. |
| Pat Hynes was worse than these three and I don’t recall any effort to remove her. |
Disagree - Hynes said some crazy things, but schools in her district (Hunter Mill) actually got treated very well during her tenure. |
One’s Jewish, One’s Muslim and One’s to cover so they can claim they’re not targeting the other two for not being good WASPs. |
It was literally just explained above that they had the slimmest margins for election, so they required the fewest signatures. Don’t make this into a conspiracy theory when it’s not. |
Grow up. |

Our public schools just endured a pandemic.
Given the drastic effect on our children’s education, this school board ought to have been laser-focused on making the best academic choices in a tough situation. But instead of focusing on academics, these 3 members used up the Board’s time (and made their priority): - re-naming schools and dismantling TJ’s admissions policy. TJ’s current student body is 80% minority / people of color. Admission is based purely on academics and it is color-blind. These 3 board members have a problem with that. They also defended ignoring the pandemic and prioritizing “renaming” by making the ridiculous allegation: - BIPOC students are prevented from learning because they don’t feel safe at a school with the wrong (in their view) name. Let’s not forget there is a tangible cost too: renaming just one school can cost up to $500,000 (half a million dollars) of taxpayer money. These Board members do not have your children’s best interest or education in mind. All 3 must be recalled before they do even more damage. |

Y’all first. Buncha whiny toddlers soiling their diapers because they didn’t get their way. Buck up and vote against them next time- or heck run yourselves! But that would require more than passive action and y’all know YOU couldn’t take the heat once you fail to live up to your neighbors’ lofty expectations. |
Organizing and conducting a recall action, as expressly authorized by state law, takes time and effort. It’s anything but a passive exercise. You are the one who sits in your basement whining about people trying to make a positive change - in response to an incompetent School Board that has driven thousands of families out of FCPS entirely. |
Maybe the schools, but not the students and the families of the students who attended them. She did absolutely nothing. |
| Thanks for posting the locations, OP. |
