I see Kevin is back with his multiple posts on the same topic. The point here is, this board is also used to "vet" the club by prospective players/parents, so I can see why Kevin pushes the 06 story every time he gets a chance on here. What's the deal with the other age groups? It's not about bashing the 06 players, as they are just kids. The 03, 04, 05, 07s are all falling apart, so my point is, I hope there is some development going on there with that 06 team as it's easy to play 4 games a weekend at that age, but quite a different story to even play 2 games on a weekend where the player then has to mentally withstand that pain at 90 minutes each game and there is no size or speed advantage. |
McLean parents have to take there anger out someway, yikes! Yeah, you did very well on U18/U19 but that only matters for the kids trying to find D2 and D3 schools at this point. Meanwhile your 04s and 05s pissed the bed worse than Bethesda. Your 06s on the bright side won the 3rd division. I won't even discuss FCV's performance, ouch. Oh, where is Loudoun??? We know the answer to that, stuck in 2007s and 2009s. No club in our DMV had a stellar performance at Jeff Cup. Any club in our area can be criticized when looking at the results... |
Why are you talking about other clubs and age groups? I came here for the 06 Bethesda content. |

In the grand scheme of all things elite soccer, Jeff Cup means nothing. Let’s see how the age groups finish the ECNL season. That is the true measure. Granted, the other age groups are dealing with issues but that is due more to injury, Covid related issues, etc.
It would be nice to see the club bring in another high level, respectable, and proven commodity to coach some of the other top teams. dG and KL are spread thin. |
| Gus already there. When does Bobby join and turn Bethesda into FCV North? |
...and Christian, that would be something! |
Before falling to Bethesda 06s, VDA 06s tied NJ state champs and thumped a NY and PA-W team. Similarly, Bethesda smoked NY (World Class) and MIGHT FCV 06s. So, please continue, tell me how DMV didn't do well? |
ECNL is not a true measure this year when VA teams are only competing against other VA teams. Next year will be a true measure as far as ECNL goes. |
| Congrats to Bethesda 06. Strong team with an excellent showing this weekend. Other ages not so great. VDA had a good weekend across multiple age groups. McLean always stellar at 03, but 04 and 05 not their best showing. Good wins by McLean 06 team. BRYc 03s won 2nd bracket of U19 but should never have been placed that low. Loudoun has work to do across multiple age groups but 04s did well. FCV did not have a strong weekend and you might think that some other local clubs will see some FCV families reaching out about tryouts if not already. When your whole narrative is built on winning, you better not lose more than you win. |
Bethesda plays in a different ECNL conference than the VA teams. Bethesda will be playing their normal conference opponents, like PDA, Match Fit, Penn Fusion . . . |
I don’t think it’s easy to play four 70 or 80 minute games in two days on full sized fields. Many of those teams had 3 hours of rest between games. IMHO, the tournament format is much more taxing than showcase format. Re BSC 06, I doubt KL is hanging out on DCUM blogging with a bunch of people who don’t factor in his or the team’s success. It actually would be smart of him to do so but I’m sure he’s not. Re the 06 team, that team isn’t winning just bc they’re bigger and faster - they actually weren’t bigger and faster than VDA. The team is smart, savvy, technical...and fast. I also don’t think the 04, 05, and 07 teams are falling apart. None of those teams were ever terrific. They’ve always had holes that they need to address. The 04 team will be good. The 05s are a question but can be good. The 03 team used to be decent, but actually fell apart. |
This is the content I'm here for. Please, more of this content. |
Gus is also at Great Falls. |
| The 04 team will be good? When? Most will be seniors next year so...... |
