Fair nuff, but this seems a distinction without much difference. If your choice is "you can stay on the team and get virtually zero playing time" vs. "you can move down and get lots of playing time," then that is not much of a choice. Maybe you pick the former if you want the "training value" of practicing with your top team, but being unable to play meaningful game minutes will hurt a kid's development. BTW, I totally see this happening with the offers first to kids on BSC, and then additional offers being made after the formal tryout take place for kids outside the club. If there are talented players from exDA teams on the boys or girls side, you can guaranty BSC will take them and either bump bench players down or give them the "choice" above. |
On the girls' side, I am surprised that they aren't allowing for ECNL or exDA girls. There will be significant movement and I would not be surprised if you have a half dozen or more girls from ECNL and exDA teams looking to join in an age group. |
^^^That's what I don't get-will they even make ECNL 2 offers to all the current players or save some room for newbies including those bumped down from ECNL 1? Current ECNL 1 parents-any idea on expected roster sizes at U15 and U16? |
Well that's what's odd. Normally, BSC sends offers to their top teams first, see who accepts, and builds down from there. If they send everything out at once, they're going to have a lot of holes to fill as players turn spots down. |
wouldn't be surprised to see rosters swell to 24, especially if there are no tryouts. I would imagine each club will have an RL team as well. |
We will see tomorrow when offers get made on the girls side. We were told there would be some room left for girls outside the club and that BSC expected heavy interest. I wouldn’t be surprised if they already know which girls they are definitely taking from outside the club. |
I saw it with the girls specially u12 and under - mid season too. Maybe they have made changes with the new staff. |
uh, no. u15 and u16 will have at least 18 players if not more. Its the age with lots of injuries so rosters should be larger. Can only roster 18 per game. |
^^^Right-so are you expecting 20+ rosters for both ECNL 1 and 2 at those ages?? Are all current ECNL 1 players staying put or subject to displacement? I hear several Mont Rush Coyotes may make the leap this year.. |
Hearing the same thing re some current 06 Rush girls. But not expecting roster sizes over 18-20. |
Nope. The DA side was over rostered because they brought new kids in when some were injured and when all were healthy they had to male room. |
wont be a lot of rush girls coming over from what im hearing from the girls. some were already playing and practicing with them all winter long i think. roster will be around 18 |
Well, now that Kevin - (their previous Rush coach two years ago) is now one of the 06 ECNL 1 coach - could see that view changing. |
same as this season- kevin and dave. some from rush liked him, some didnt. like every coach out there heh. 06 roster is short to begin with. 05 roster as well. |
Not that different though. Some clubs make sure all players get reasonable playing time, even at the DA level. Other clubs let players sit on the bench for most of every game. |
