I don’t know JH personally or have any idea what you’re talking about, but you do realize you are talking about the third team coach of 9 year olds? It’s a low team of third and fourth graders and you’re complaining about a guy who used to coach first teams at Potomac and has been a coach over a decade. Who are you expecting to coach a low team of kids still playing 7v7? I am not even a BSC fan, left for our own reasons. Some of the criticism is comical. |
Thanks for bringing this goal to my attention. Great goal! The 2013 and 2012 Boys teams are excellent |
Well the 3rd and 4th teams pay the same amount as the 1st and 2nd, should their coaching be at least adequate? I am not saying just cause you pay you should be on a better team, but you should still expect a coach who will train your kid to be better. |
Is the "coach" you are referring to the older guy who simply sits in a folding chair the whole game and yells sometimes? I happened to see this scenario and was amazed and appalled at the same time. |
Some coaches are better than others. Of course. And everybody deserves an adequate coach. Just seems a bit over the top to say he’s a “fraud” when he actually has a decent resume and has been around a while. And yes, coach assignments do matter by level of team. He’d probably have a higher team if he was more highly regarded. Just how it goes. BSC does the parent surveys. I don’t know if anyone reads it and how much it factors into assignments. ET is largely responsible for this coaching assignment so take it up with him if you have a problem. DA, 4th team coach, has actually been around a number of years now and works great with young kids and their development, but for whatever reason ET seems to keep him low every year. So, in the end, I actually agree with you on that front that I’d take the 4th team coach over the 3rd. |
The 2009 team will look totally different next year. At least 7 players most of which could walk right in and start this weekend. Not saying they are going to be like the 10s by any means but they will be better. The 08s finished 4th in a very competitive division. Will likely get plenty of offers if the parents don’t ruin it for them. That is the biggest problem with the 08s. 07s, yeah, not a great team but aging out anyway. A few have already gotten D1 offers. A few more will to small D1 schools. Unlike what some post here, the girls side is fine. Far from perfect and changes need to be made as eluded to earlier. Earlier age groups just need to weather the storm. |
Yes that describes JH pretty well. I noticed how he seems to avoid the ball like the plague. This is not someone who should be coaching young developing players. You want someone who can demonstrate skills or at the very least juggle a ball. A coach MUST have playing experience. |
The fact that MN spends hours in this forum replying to messages says it all. Bethesda is a joke, run by clowns. Leave early before it’s too late |
Avram Grant and Leonardo Jardim say hello. |
I just meant in general… my expectation is that the coach of the 3rd or 4th team still coaches the team… the kids get better and improve due to the coaching… that was not really the case with my kid this year |
They are exceptional. Among the very few teams in DMV who actually play the game the right way. Unfortunately, once they move on to a different coach they will revert to kickball. |
So you are saying that you are totally ok with some clown who never played the game coach your child? JH is so bad that the only way he wins games is by bringing team 1 and 2 guests players while benching his own players. Even then he manages to lose games. He is incapable of winning a game with his own players. |
No. And your tactic.is far to common in today's world put words in my.mouth I didn't say, then attack that. I said what I said. And that equates ro not every coach has to have playing experience. Those two are the exception. You are the clown and a scumbag for trying to make something out of whole cloth and say I said it. I'm sure your spouse's lover.treata them.better than you do. |
Bethesda being about politics over all a new thing? |
The younger ECNL girls teams are impressive - both 2011s and 2010s are champions in one of the toughest conferences in the league and the 2012s Pre-ECNL are finishing top 3. All three teams that I've seen play a very distinct high quality brand of soccer.
You don't get this with mediocre coaches and generic training. By all accounts, sounds like Bethesda is far from perfect but they must be doing something right in developing strong soccer players in a difficult (for most) style of play. |
