The 03 team has at least two very good players who will join the 04 squad next year when the 03 and 04 merge. If the 04s can keep everyone, and add the couple of 03s, they’ll be solid and likely on par with Pipeline (if not better) and MU.

Who cares? Kids are trying to get committed and the spring ECNL season for graduating seniors is a lame duck season.

In normal times it’s lame duck. It with covid, commitments have been pushed way back. So the spring season actually matters. Also, if BSC is trying to improve its rep and results across the board, then it needs to field good teams at multiple age groups. That’s why the 04 team is also relevant.

There is only so far way back things will be pushed next year. Sorry but commitments will mostly be done by the end of the fall. It will still be a lame duck season and kids who are not yet committed by the spring have bigger concerns than their team's wins and losses.

Haha yeah you’re taking it a bit far. This is a DISCUSSION BOARD and people discuss topics of interest. This board is literally about Bethesda soccer - it seems logical that the 06 Bethesda team would come up. If you don’t want to participate in the particular discussion then go to a different discussion. Problem solved.

McLean parents have to take there anger out someway, yikes! Yeah, you did very well on U18/U19 but that only matters for the kids trying to find D2 and D3 schools at this point. Meanwhile your 04s and 05s pissed the bed worse than Bethesda. Your 06s on the bright side won the 3rd division.

I won't even discuss FCV's performance, ouch. Oh, where is Loudoun??? We know the answer to that, stuck in 2007s and 2009s.

No club in our DMV had a stellar performance at Jeff Cup. Any club in our area can be criticized when looking at the results...

Before falling to Bethesda 06s, VDA 06s tied NJ state champs and thumped a NY and PA-W team. Similarly, Bethesda smoked NY (World Class) and MIGHT FCV 06s. So, please continue, tell me how DMV didn't do well?

I get what you’re saying but state cup champs were from almost 24 months ago- not a great barometer 2 years later.

That VDA 06 team finished at the top of their ECNL division. They were undefeated. That team is very good.

The 04 team will be good because...KL is coaching them right? What have they done over the last 18 months? This group had more wins under MR and has steadily declined. Take a look at the most recent results this past weekend. Folks, stop trying to sell here and just be honest with yourselves. Regarding the "two very good" 03 players, very good compared to whom? Are they Power 5 bound, if not, they are average players. Also remember, Pipeline and MUFC also will have 03 players joining their 04 group next season (couple of which are Power 5 recruits), and you have no idea who they are, so how can you make the comparison the Bethesda group will be better?

That BSC 04 team was decent with MR and then nosedived when Shannon took over. This isn’t about KL. The team has good players with some holes that need to be filled. They will be fine. And yeah the two 03 players are very good players. It’s foolish to suggest that a kid who opts for a particular school is just average because of the school they chose. Pipeline and MU 04 teams are ok and their best players on the 02/03 teams are 02s. Maybe they get an infusion of additional players which is always a possibility but unlikely at that age group.

BSC boys and girls are very different animals. BSC boys is fantastic across ages. Girls are a mixed bag. 06 team very good. Others are average ecnl teams. Average ecnl still is very strong. With boys there are several strong coaches. Girls are singularly reliant on what you think of KL. My guess is a couple will turn very positive. 05s in particular. A couple may implode. 07s would be my top bet. Boys dont have a weak team, really.Some are better than others but all, at the top level, are very, very good. Yes I am involved heavily in BSC. 2 boys 1 girl (or maybe opposite; dont want to give away my identity)
