Seriously? Since when do you care about what FARMs parents think? Were you thinking about them when you were screaming at the June meeting about property values and not having your children go to gang-ridden Herndon? Were you involved in creating/benefitting from zoning laws to keep the poor out of your neighborhood? |
Nothing to see but what boundaries look like in 2 years. GF wants all of Great Falls and everyone currently zoned for Langley to stay at Langley. One Great Falls already has every candidate agreeing to do so. If they want to look at some other issue I don't care, they've done their job. Some Herndon residents want to kick their neighbors out. No candidate has promised to comply with this uncharitable demand. Looks like Make Herndon Great Again needs to get organized. I wonder if FARMs parents know how much they and their children are despised by their neighbors? I just posted a few posted earlier but the boldfaced is maybe the most laughable DCUM comment in quite awhile. The poster clearly does not know Herndon. As I said before, I don’t see HHS parents seeking to kick anyone out. If anything, they usually want the best for all its students within its boundaries. (Whether FCPS can deliver is debatable.) At the end of the day, parents just want to do the best by their own kids first. I get it. I don’t always agree with Herndon politics, but what I generally see are parents who aren’t just looking out for their own kids. Right now, the optics (rightly or wrongly) are such that Great Falls parents come away looking like they care only for themselves — even though plenty share the same politics as Herndon. It’s like they vote one way for the betterment of the masses, but consider themselves apart from the masses. |
There is at least one parent on here who desperately wants to move Hutchison to Langley. When people told her why that wouldn't work she wanted to move them to South Lakes and move the kids from Floris and others south of the toll rd to Herndon. When it was explained why that wouldn't work, she screams. Just look at the title of this thread. |
How dare you suggest that Langley parents DIDN'T start this thread to insult Herndon and imply some kind of superiority based on local geography? How dare you? |
Actually I wasn't at the June meeting at all, and am not sure what laws you're talking about. This thread was started to blame Langley parents for Herndon's (perceived by the OP) problems with test scores, pedophile teachers (a gross exaggeration as there was one found and removed) and high FARMs. That person wants to get rid of Herndon FARMS students from Herndon . I want all neighborhoods and families currently zoned for Langley to stay there, including the FARMs families. So yeah, I care what they think. They don't have too much to worry about though, because their fellow Langley parents aren't wishing hoping praying insisting that they be removed. |
So obnoxious. No wonder the School Board is now planning to change its policy on school mascots so it can change the name of the "Saxons." |
Wow. You are a regular Mother Teresa! You are so kind to want to keep your 1.6% FARMS. My goodness, have they put the paperwork in yet to canonize you? |
WTF? I’m a future HHS parent from recent posts. I believe communities and student populations can benefit from socio-economic diversity, but you seem bent on dividing people rather than finding real solutions. You don’t seem to have the best interest of the most vulnerable in mind, nor the interests of the community at large. Do you honestly think purging certain families from Herndon’s rolls is going to help? Advocating for low income housing solutions in McLean and similar places might be more productive while possibly also alleviating pressure on schools in the HHS pyramid. At the same time, to the extent possible, Fairfax County (not just the schools or government) needs to help all students (not just FARMs, minorities, advanced academics, children with disabilities) reach their full potential. Disenfranchising any group causes resentment. We all want to be heard and have our needs met, but we’re not any more special than the next person. Find a way to build us up, not bring us down. |
+100 It would be foolish *not* to expand any school already undergoing renovation, provided there is enough space, etc. Common sense. |
Link? |
I’ve been following this thread and have come to the conclusion that the “bully parents” are not from the Langley community - not by a long shot. Some of the ugliest posts come from HHS parents. Really hateful. |
Seriously, you think there are many? |
Many what? Hateful posts by HHS parents? Yes. |
You aren’t fooling anyone, snotty Langley parent. |
Thanks for proving the point, HHS parent. Seek help. |
