When are Herndon Middle and Herndon High going to get a break?!??

Is that true?

I think if a teacher helps get a 7th grader who is at a 3rd grade math level in September up to 5th grade by June, that should be celebrated. Teacher shouldn't be asked why the kid isn't on grade level.

The fact is, kids whose parents put more into them 0-5 are going to achieve at a higher level than parents who did less ?even if they did their best.

I'm the teacher who taught in the projects. I have not taught in quite some time. I was not judged by test scores. I think they are today.

I agree with your statement about teachers being judged on helping kids make progress. But, I don't think ti works that way.

But, you are correct that it is hard to overcome what is not done from 0-5. There are always some kids from horrible situations who will blossom, but it takes a lot of help. And, if they go home to awful environments, progress is difficult to sustain.

I've often thought that parenting classes should be a requirement to get food from free pantries. Everyone loves their children, but everyone does not understand how important it is to read to them and play with them.

PP here. Sorry I got on my soapbox. Way off topic.

Liberals have controlled public education for decades... education has not improved, and there is an ever-increasing level of bullshit liberal ideological indoctrination in schools. Why does it surprise you that conservatives are sick of paying for a system that (a) doesn't work, and (b) propagandizes kids to hate what their parents believe?

It doesn’t surprise me that many conservatives dislike public schools that provide their children with an understanding of society that may lead them to acknowledge and even challenge their own privilege, or that they bash “liberals” or claim that schools have not improved, rather than admit the basis for their discomfort.

Affluent people of all political leanings and done choose private schools.

Affluent conservatives.

Affluent liberals. (check the percentage of white students in NY public schools as opposed to their percentage of the population)

Affluent independents.

What's the common denominator boys and girls? The schools themselves may have liberal, conservative, or neutral personalities (if a school has a personality).
These parents are choosing a school that is not a public school and where as parents, they may have more of an influence since they are funding the school directly.

Affluent officials of all political leanings and none often choose neighborhoods that are zoned for the top performing schools when they do send their children to public school.

In the end, MANY of the people making the decisions are not directly affected by the laws and policies they enact.

There is no "holy" political party that just looooooovvvvesss everyone and wants to do what's best for the world and has leadership that puts their own children in the thick of the decisions they make for everyone else.

My understanding is that they are judged on bringing the low bar up in order to narrow the gap between the high and low bars. The problem of course is that no one cares about raising the high bar.

Do any of the local politicians have children in the lowest-ranked schools? Specifically, the Board of Supervisors and the school board?

Move western GF to Herndon

Move parts of Herndon to Langley

Move parts of Tysons to Langley

Increase Langley FARMs and enrollment
Decrease McLean enrollment
Decrease Herndon FARMs

Problem solved, everybody wins. You're welcome.

Are you the OP? Why do you keep posting the same message over and over just to keep this thread going?

So you want to swap GF kids for Herndon kids at Langley. Herndon has its own overcrowded school that is being renovated.

If you want McLean schools, maybe buy in McLean and not Herndon. We just moved to McLean for better schools.

Your suggestion has been discussed many many times. Enough is enough. Grow up and move on.
