BC is two units more prestigious than Emery and one unit less prestigious than Georgetown.
I went to Exeter and Harvard so I know about these things. |
Did you learn to spell at Harvard or was that later when you took your prestigious attorney job? |
Have you even been to Atlanta in the past three years? It's a solid city with a lot to offer, especially for young people. I didn't know much about Emory before my kid applied and got a full ride merit scholarship. Alums are all over doing great things. However I do agree with the assessment that there isn't much difference in prestige between the three. |
Some of you keep biting...Atlanta is in the south which automatically makes it unlivable to many of these intolerant snobbish idiots. Having one of their precious offspring attend a university in the south is definitely not acceptable. |
BC is a safety school for Emory students. Let's not lie because you're anonymous. |
No, it’s not. Sorry. |
No one prestigious would go to school in Atlanta. |
I want to know this PP's definition of a "unit." ![]() |
Because Boston is so great...the center of the world. |
Are you a troll? This is not a Prada vs. Balenciaga bag contest; this is your child's $$$ education and future. It should be all about best fit for your child and strength of his planned program. |
I think for that particular PP a unit is either 1. A shot of vodka, 2. A lego piece, 3. A cupboard with a lock on the inside |
They may differ some in rankings, but if I see these schools on a resume, I'm not really assuming anything different about the applicant other than which city they might have the closest ties to. If I see MIT, I'm going to think that person was better academically and is probably a better quant and technical problem solver than grads of these schools. If I see Bowling Green State, I'm going to assume the Emory, Georgetown, Boston College grads were better academically and probably came from a more privileged background. But once you get into the work career, I've found you can have very capable people coming from almost anywhere. |
Oops, your racism is showing. |
Is the fact the city is over 50% African American why people have a problem with Atlanta? Say that to one of the cities that defeated Trump. Say that to Stacy Abrams. Will people never learn?
Atlanta is, as of 2010, the nation's 4th largest black-majority city and has long been known as a "black mecca" for its role as a center of black wealth, political and social power, education, and culture including film and music. From Wikipedia. |
Maybe the real questions are “for whom do these schools have prestige value?” and “what does it get you?” |
