Explain this to me? Emory is ranked higher on Usnews and Times.

Exactly if Emory isn't prestigious then they all aren't. Both Emory and Georgetown are Cornell level prestigious, while BC is just a good school.

While I agree Emory and Gtown are more prestigious than BC, I'm sorry but none of these schools are "Cornell-level" prestigious.

Georgetown is the tier below Ivies/might as well be ivies and Emory is the tier below that. BC is below either by a lot

Now, that's funny...

I went to Georgetown and think it depends on what undergrad program you’re talking about.

I went to the School of Foreign Service specifically to prepare for a government career and feel my preparation—and the connections I formed—was perfect for my career track.

If I didn’t have my particular career goals, I probably would’ve chosen another university.

Just my 2 cents.

Why is there always so much hate for Emory on this board? It’s like chronic and personal in a way you don’t seem to find with other schools. Any theories?

Eh, asking about "prestige" in this forum is bound to result in a ridiculous thread.

OP, if you want to compare fit, tell us more about why these are on the list.

ACT 25- 75
BC- 31- 34
GU- 31-35
Emory- 31-34

These kids are academically indistinguishable. Each school has different strengths and weaknesses in terms of programs, but I don't see how anyone could consider one to be more "prestigious".

Not really if you look closer
Emory and Georgetowns avg is a 33.

Emory SAT- 1470 (1390-1510)
GTown SAT- 1470 (1370-1530)
BC SAT - 1410( 1370-1490)

But then Emory is ranked higher than both on multiple rankings so....

Southern school in an "urban" city brings out the trolls. Most of DC'ers children went to UVA, Umich, Tufts and UMD. Objectively worse schools so they're probably just jealous.

Students from New York state have a much easier time getting into Cornell than Emory or Georgetown. I've seen this time and time again.

At schools of this level, the question is really more about where do they want to work afterwards? If you want to be in DC, then going to Gtown is a no-brainer. If you want to be in Boston, BC will be better, etc.

That said, in DC Georgetown is considered the top school in the city. In Boston, BC is not.

Georgetown and Cornell are very similar in profile and have a high number of cross-admits, actually.

Do you know what "objectively" means?

Georgetown (let alone Emory) is not more prestigious than Cornell.

Not sure what "let alone" in this context means, but I suggested they were "just as" not "more than" so I agree with you. With a ranking of 18, 21 and 23 respectively; they are peer schools for undergrad.

Whatever, you assumed it to mean.

BC 27.9% admit rate

Georgetown 14.5% admit rate

No, BC is not as prestigious as Emory and definitely not as prestigious as Georgetown.

You're welcome.

Gtown and Emory are definitely not "just as" prestigious as Cornell.
