Then none of the 3 schools are. |
You think GU is just below HYPS and MIT!? ![]() GU would even fall below UPenn and Dartmouth. |
Same, I said that I think it's closer to Cornell's level, along with Emory. |
You people are out of your minds. Georgetown is a clear step below Cornell. Emory I don't even pay attention to. It's maybe a little bit prestigious with people in Georgia and for people working in healthcare, and that's about it. |
Georgetown grads make more than Cornell grads and Emory is just as selective. Who cares if you don't think about Emory-- the people that matter do, more Emory grads work in NYC anyway so its clearly not just Georgia people who think highly of them. |
BC, Emory, and Georgetown are all selective schools with some brand recognition nationwide and a bit worldwide. With that said, none is prestigious. In fact, Georgetown’s main campus is a dump. |
Well argued. PP must have gone somewhere prestigious (i.e., non-dumpy). |
+1. Georgetown has got to be one of the most overrated schools on DCUM. |
Although I don't agree with you, at least your opinion makes sense. Most in here are trying to explain away facts using lies. Either you think none of these schools are prestigious or that Emory is the most prestigious of the 3. Everything else is just trying to manufacture gray areas. BC has never been top 30 and Emory has been ranked higher than Georgetown on the two most bought, watched, and cited rankings ( US News and Times WSJ) for over 5 years now. Emory has been ranked higher than BC since college rankings existed. Some of you are saying ranking and prestige are different but can't explain what prestige is? Or do you really want us to believe your co-workers are more impressed with your child getting into BC over Emory. That's a joke and you know it. BC lets in everyone over a 1400, it's not and never has been a difficult school to get into. |
No idea why Cornell got dragged into this conversation but I've gotta chime in for my Ivy League friends.
Cornell > Emory/Georgetown > BC There are admittedly several non-Ivy schools that are peers with Cornell, Brown, and Dartmouth, but most people would agree Emory and Georgetown are just under this tier. |
+1 No one knows anything about Emory unless they have to. This likely explains the low yield rate. |
Peers haha. |
Placing Georgetown "just under" Cornell, Brown, or Dartmouth is a stretch, even if that's accurate in an ordinal sense. |
In reality, rankings are irrelevant as ultimately what matters is who you know.
Given this reality, BC and GU are going to get you much further than Emory anywhere north of the Mason Dixon line. |
You must have gone to BC because you aren't intelligent enough to use google. Emory top post-grad destinations 1. Atlanta, GA 2. New York, NY 3. Washington, DC 4. Chicago, IL 5. Boston, MA 6.
