I think BC has a better shot at BC than the other two. |
*sorry DC has a better shot at BC. |
Bwah ha ha at Emory being prestigious! |
It may be just as good but not as prestigious. |
Emory is prestigious? |
Yes, it actually is. No, I didn't go there. |
No
Georgetown is the tier below Ivies/might as well be ivies and Emory is the tier below that. BC is below either by a lot |
Now, that's funny... ![]() |
Depends on how you measure prestige. You can see the US News rankings yourself, though that's only one type of measure. If you are talking about a more specific situation, such as working in the Northeast, it's probably a better option than Emory. Traditionally, Georgetown would edge out BC for prestige, but whether that matters depends on the field, the geographic location, etc.
These three schools are all very good, but will each have a different feel/fit. My bottom line opinion is that differences in prestige among these three are small. If your student is considering ED2, with these small differences, I'd go with the one they like best. BC is a bit larger than the other two, colder obviously, and with more extensive D1 sports, from a school spirit perspective. |
I am a Genxer from flyby country. My ranking for "prestige" would be Georgetown-BC-Emory. With Georgetown and BC being a tier above Emory. |
Prestige aside - I wouldn’t think the same kid that liked BC would like Georgetown would like Emory.
BC and Georgetown while both Catholic are pretty different. So maybe instead of looking for prestige, figure out where your kid would be happiest. |
It is top 20 so I would assume so yes. I was going off of rankings with Emory being the highest, and BC the lowest. |
Explain this to me? Emory is ranked higher on Usnews and Times. |
Exactly if Emory isn't prestigious then they all aren't. Both Emory and Georgetown are Cornell level prestigious, while BC is just a good school. |
I have never understood what people mean by "prestige" on here. As best I can tell, it means "can I impress people at a cocktail party?" because it seldom has anything to do with quality. To the extant that anyone cares about measurable metrics,
ACT 25- 75 BC- 31- 34 GU- 31-35 Emory- 31-34 These kids are academically indistinguishable. Each school has different strengths and weaknesses in terms of programs, but I don't see how anyone could consider one to be more "prestigious". |
