Is Boston College as prestigious as Emory or Georgetown?

ACT 25- 75
BC- 31- 34
GU- 31-35
Emory- 31-34

These kids are academically indistinguishable. Each school has different strengths and weaknesses in terms of programs, but I don't see how anyone could consider one to be more "prestigious".

+1. Prestige means will people be impressed where my kid got into when I tell them. I think each school has different strengths.

Honestly, I don't think prestige level is too different between these schools.

+3 I would consider these schools equally prestigious.

Although I don't agree with you, at least your opinion makes sense. Most in here are trying to explain away facts using lies. Either you think none of these schools are prestigious or that Emory is the most prestigious of the 3. Everything else is just trying to manufacture gray areas. BC has never been top 30 and Emory has been ranked higher than Georgetown on the two most bought, watched, and cited rankings ( US News and Times WSJ) for over 5 years now. Emory has been ranked higher than BC since college rankings existed. Some of you are saying ranking and prestige are different but can't explain what prestige is? Or do you really want us to believe your co-workers are more impressed with your child getting into BC over Emory. That's a joke and you know it. BC lets in everyone over a 1400, it's not and never has been a difficult school to get into.

Rankings and prestige are different. Rankings enforce a strict ordinal sequence. When it comes to prestige, I'd argue people don't have anything close to that much nuance in their views. The have bigger buckets.

Given this reality, BC and GU are going to get you much further than Emory anywhere north of the Mason Dixon line.

You must have gone to BC because you aren't intelligent enough to use google.

Says the person who believes credibility is established with a quick Google search and employment outcome figures from a source with a vested interest... Idiot.

The fact that most graduates end up in Atlanta says enough.

Please note the difference between most, majority, and plurality. When presented with facts you quickly discredited it with baseless accusations and no evidence of your own. You're IQ is abysmal.

Why is there always so much hate for Emory on this board? It’s like chronic and personal in a way you don’t seem to find with other schools. Any theories?

You new here? Anything south of NOVA is too "Southern" for most on this board. I mean according to many here UVA, UNC, Vanderbilt and Duke are the equivalent of Frostburg State or Marshall because they are "in the south".

Oh yes! How dare these southern schools be more highly regarded than northern journeyman schools whose claim to fame is their graduates doing back-office work at small PE firms. I still feel the hate for Emory and Duke is abnormally high.

Duke is far more prestigious than Emory around here.

Hardly a major city one aspires to end up in.

Georgetown, then Emory, then BC, in terms of prestige but honestly it's not like one is Harvard and the other is some terrible school. Resume value wise none of them super outweighs the other. So I would choose among them based on best fit and cost.

Ah yes, the old "prestige" question on DCUM! I see what you did OP, you were bored and wanted some entertainment, unleash the hounds and watch the discussion devolve into an utter melee of insults and collegiate mudslinging! Always fun to see the rabbit holes these threads go.

Emory>Georgetown>>>Boston College.
Going off of who I see more in my field.
