Which part are you disputing?
The live within 100 miles is a WSYL requirement. The intake form, which was posted on the now deleted(?) Black Ops website (and sent out by our club) has a choice for "Other" when you input which club your child plays for. This implies PP is correct that the three teams are the basis but not the sole source for the team. I've also heard anecdotally that some kids might not try out because of the additional cost associated with the team (I don't think Black Ops has said but Madlax Monuments is about $1,200.) If this is actually true, it lends credence to the potential need to go outside the clubs. |
| I was told by a legitimate source within my son's program that the team is limited to these three, but it is a legitimate question how tight the three club rule will be enforced. Like everything in travel sports, teams will do what they can to make money and win games. If a great player arrives at tryouts, and meets a position need, and his family is ready to pay the crazy price, I doubt they would turn him away. |
Novel thought but why not just let the best show up and then field the strongest DMV team that isn't relying on hold backs? |
Try getting up to speed. The WSYL is an age-based and not class-based team. Go back to the public school thread and rail against the privates like you are used to. |
| Perhaps without the hold back statement, the PPs comment is valid. Why not open it up to any on age boy that shows up? Are they they trying to win a championship or make their players happy? You might not be able to have both. |
| I think that is exactly what it will be - open to any on age boy who shows up. The age restrictions and 100 mile rule are set by WSYL, so Black Ops has no flexibility on those, but is free to be flexible on which club a player comes from. As a prior poster noted, the pull down menu does list "other" as an option in addition so the three core programs. |
Just make sure he doesn’t have sexual actions with your son. After all, he is a registered Pedophile |
I am someone who absolutely is in the know. Anyone within 100 Miles can tryout. |
| Which 13U team will be stronger between Monument or Black Ops? |
Hawks. |
Idiot Hawks Dads are everywhere... |
|
| What I do think is interesting with the Hawks is that they filled their hold back spots without opening up tryouts to everyone. Perhaps by just pulling up some 27s. I wonder why the Monument and Black Ops teams didn't do that. |
Monument team absolutely did that. Their 2027 team probably has an older roster than the 26's at NL. They also had a very weak turn out for the "tryout" (ahem ..money grab of $75) For Black Ops, most of the u13 players will come from VLC and BLC as NL is pretty weak. Prior posts are also arguing about whether players rostered on other clubs will be allowed to try out. Sure, why not but you better be sure your player is better than a NL/VLC/DCE player or your player is planning on changing clubs. |

It looks like the pool is growing...Hammers/Team MD/Top Caliber are joining forces as well.
