I think its because the Founding NLF teams were asking the affiliate teams like DCE to pay big money to keep attending but not receive the profits from the tournament. Hence the Affiliates and others to start a competing tournament. Pinnacle.

Yep. Word is they were paying affiliate price, but wanted to be treated more like a founding member due to alliance w LI Express. So, ML jumped in and took the DC area membership status once they heard DCE was waffling.
How much is "big money" these days for a club fielding just 3 teams.

Doesn't matter. DCE and Hawks are still going to send a ton of kids to D1 schools. They don't need NLF.
So it's not about the money. NLF need these teams more than they need NLF?

I think it was around 25k for full membership which gives you a cut of profits at the end of the year. And NLF probably has 3 of the 4 best touch’s done the Summer in terms of competition and recruiting, so not so sure DCE doesn’t need NLF. Hawks has some good years and bad years, so the good teams get invited and the bad teams go do Aloha events.

* 3 of the 4 best tournaments of the Summer

Again, Hawks send tons of kids to D1 and are not in NLF. If your kid is good he will still get recruited. Lots of other way like Under Armour, Maverick Showtime, prospect days , Naptown, crab feast , First in Class, the new events that Pietramala is running and yes, there will be enough talent at Pinnacle that coaches will show up. The list goes on and on.....

Add in the new Nike event too. But to be fair, not playing the big clubs from the NE isn't the best look. Prospect/Showcase style events are one thing; but consistently playing the best teams on the summer circuit does count for something.

Ok Madlax Dad.

That's original...well done. You nailed it...or are you just mad that ML paid the money that DCE wouldn't, now has the DC area membership for NLF and DCE is left scrambling to put together a Summer program that has a little teeth while trying to remain relevant as NL, ML, VLC all have evolved and are running circles around the club that blew the chance to build something great?
DCE has some very good to great teams - why would they be locked out of tournaments (CrabFeast, etc) they have done in the past. I hope you are not making these projections on a 7th or 8th grade team

So NL and VLC are in NLF? Not.

What you are trying to do Madlax Dad/coach/owner is make DCE look bad so less kids turnout at DCE 2026 tryouts this summer.

That is why you are posting on the Black Ops forum. It won’t work. That is because DCE 2026 will have two things you can’t replicate. Bobby Horsey as the head coach all the way through the recruiting cycle and Wayne Olan as the recruiting coordinator.

That is more than enough to get talented kids noticed.

There are certain families like mine that will never be involved with Madlax. I would take my kid to Baltimore if I have to.

VLC via Crabs is in the NLF and plays in the events and VLC kids do the NLF showcases

Great. Then you never need to move to Madlax.

NLF is just a big 'You scratch my back, I scratch your back' deal. They play in each others big price tag tournaments. 100% just an money grab.

Nope. Won’t ever have to move to MadLax. But let’s all admire DCE26 parent here...has the coach for the next 3 years locked up with no possible chance of anything changing and recruiting coordinator already set for that Summer before Junior year. He or she will even drive to Baltimore to make it right for the little guy...such commitment.

Guess he knows before the rest of us that his/her kid will be worthy of getting recruited?? Must be a special talent to know this in 7th grade. Heck, I’m hopeful my kid still likes the sport in 10th grade. Has to be a first time parent...Bless you...

If you already know your son will fizzle out then why bother? I’m sure you can both find other things to do on weekends.

Is this team now wrapped up until next tryouts for WSYL?

Both age groups advanced in the WSYL so those teams will eventually practice and compete again in June/July.

I don't anyone with firm knowledge about what happens after - i.e., if Black Ops continues for WSYL entries, fields a grade based team for other national events (as they originally discussed but don't seem to have done anything about), or something else.

So the time is coming….. will Black Ops players be leaving their current club to join one of the other clubs? Will super club teams be formed that essentially mirror the Black Ops rosters for their respective age bands? And if so, which club will collect them?

Please do tell. But i'm sure those parents will not show cards yet. Open season!!! Who will collect as the PP stated?

I hope parents remember that they only allow ten kids on the field at once. If a megateam were formed with 23-24 studs, that is a bad scenario for 8 or so players.

This "super team" would be a distinct disadvantage since it would be on-age players going against teams with holdbacks. This has got to be the same poster who has been consistently wishcasting that all the best Black Ops kids from VLC and NL will defect to DC Express. We shall see.

Totally agree with this post. This super team would still lose to Hawks and the Crabs. The best way to get a super team is to stack the team with holdbacks which puts all of the black ops kids at a disadvantage. How many holdbacks/reclasses will be new to DCE express this year?

+1
I roll my eyes a bit at the wish-casters (nice term, BTW) hoping that their son's 8th grade team will amass all the talented players and become a super dynasty. Here is a news flash, once we get into 9th and 10th grade, it is more about exposure to college coaches than winning and losing. The coaches do not care who wins the games, they are evaluating players. If my son's team loses a couple of good players to DC Express, which is the current rumor, that is fine with me - it just means more touches and more PT for the remaining players.

"This super team would still lose to Hawks and the Crabs." Not likely at least to the Crabs.
