Black Ops for WSYL

Anonymous
I thought I was a smart lacrosse parent, but this is beginning to make my head spin. Black Ops was originally portrayed as an all star team of the three programs for WSYL, plus a couple of extra tournaments to qualify.

But now it sounds like the Black Ops team will continue on after WSYL?

If that is the case, what happens to whatever is left of the existing VLC, NL, and BLC teams? Are they supposed to recruit new players to replace the Black Ops players, or do the Black Ops play for both teams indefinitely?

It sounds like they will have separate tryouts for specific tournaments. So WSYL will just be for 14U and 13U. But other national tournaments it could be any grade based year - maybe to compete against the Madlax Nationals of the world. I think the players stay with their home teams and this is extra on top.

Talk about ruining something that was suppose to originally mimic the Little League World Series. Finally something age based for a club teams.

This all started with the LI teams adding kids from the older team who were age appropriate. Which I don't find that bad. But then they started combining rival teams and I guess everyone is following suite. Just going to be another UA/Nike All Star Championship in a few years.

These three programs all advertise "not like MadLax" but this is starting to sound an awful lot like MadLax to me!

Extra $$ on top.

All about exposure and film. Any kid who thinks about playing in college will do anything to increase exposure to colleges, get film and pad the resume. Who cares if it is U9? Families are nuts about when to really focus on the college process (IMO should be freshman year). But club organizers have figured out that families will pay for this one of thing and they are only meeting market demand.

There are not a lot details. Looks to be mostly speculation and opinion on this site.

Are Baltimore Crabs still affiliated with VLC? If so it's odd they would be ok with this.

I think the fact that no one answered the first two times you asked indicates that likely the information isn’t out there yet. As someone else said, this whole board is mostly speculation given the dearth of details provided on social media or through the programs.

You'll know on Saturday.

Tryouts moved to Dec 12/13 location TBD. I guess COVID is causing problems again. . . .
