| I know this isn’t a Black Wolf thread, but for the record Coach Trig does care about the boys he knows will excel in lacrosse. He’s a good coach if your son can handle his style. I would suggest if you interested in Black Wolf you try a camp first. |
You are right. This is not a BW thread. |
| Yes, this thread started as a discussion of the Black Ops World Series team, but it veered off course and became a discussion of Black Wolf. The names are similar but they are totally different things and not affiliated. |
| Speaking of BLACK OPS. Anyone heard if their kid is invited to tryout yet? |
| yes |
|
I think that (a) Black Ops is limited to three programs (VLC, BLC, NextLevel), and (b) all age eligible players in those programs are invited to try out, so there should be no mystery in who is invited.
But I could be wrong - did anybody outside those programs get an invitation? Or did anybody within those programs not get one? |
| Did any older 27's get invited? |
|
I don't think that the programs are issuing formal invitations to anybody. What my son received was to the whole team.
If your son is a good 2027 who is interested, you should just sign him up for tryouts. If he is an older 2027, on age with the 2026's, then all the more reason to give it a try. Theoretically, there should be no need to dip into 2027's, since three very strong 2026 teams are combining, but there is no way to predict who will try out. This team is expensive as hell, and most of the kids are already playing on multiple teams, so many might choose to take a pass. So just come to tryouts and see who is there! |
| My son plays for Blackwolf. Can I go to tryouts? |
| Yes |
| The person who answered yes was being cute. The answer is no, unfortunately. |
Definitely NOT true. Coaches reached outside their clubs trying to build a competitive team to beat LI squads. So nice try trying to keep your son's competition out. |
| I think you’re confusing Black Ops with MadLax Monuments. Both are trying to stack their teams to compete with national elite, but they are going about it differently. Black Ops is combining three teams, and Monuments is holding open tryouts for anybody who meets the 100 mile rule. |
If you live within 100 miles and are not one one of these three clubs but believe that your son is talented enough to make the team then you should tryout. There may be openings due to positional need. The reality is that no one knows at this point how many on age kids from these three clubs decide to tryout and the roster can hold as much as 25. The three clubs are the basis for the team, not the sole source. It will be very difficult this year to advance to WSYL from the east regional qualifier so putting together the best team possible is important. This team will become a 2026 national event team in the future providing additional recruitment opportunities for talented boys who want to be on an elite team but may also choose to stay on their not elite regular club due to social or convenience reasons. |
| And you are? Because there has been no indication from NL this is even remotely the case. |
