Black Ops for WSYL

myth buster - holdbacks = better players.
Not true. Lax IQ, athletic ability and stick skills aren't dependent on a kid's age. A BlacKOps team with the best on-age kids can and will beat holdbacks. BO just beat a True Annapolis team with holdbacks. Coaching also matters.
Of course the best U14 team will likely win a 7 games series against the best U13 but it will be competitive. At the U9,U11/U12 the age difference matters a lot more.

This "super team" would be a distinct disadvantage since it would be on-age players going against teams with holdbacks. This has got to be the same poster who has been consistently wishcasting that all the best Black Ops kids from VLC and NL will defect to DC Express. We shall see.

Totally agree with this post. This super team would still lose to Hawks and the Crabs. The best way to get a super team is to stack the team with holdbacks which puts all of the black ops kids at a disadvantage. How many holdbacks/reclasses will be new to DCE express this year?

"This super team would still lose to Hawks and the Crabs." Not likely at least to the Crabs.

At 2026, none of the Black Ops feeder teams (VLC/NL/DCE) beat Crabs, never mind Hawks. But now that those three teams have combined their best on-age players, they'll magically be able to overcome Crabs, who are full of 14 yr olds? Can you explain your reasoning here?

Age difference matters the most when boys are at different stages of puberty, which is generally in the 12-14 age range. That's why you see 2026 players nearly a foot taller than teammates and opponents. True A is good and that's a quality win but that team was pretty much equal to BLC. BO wouldn't win a hypothetical match-up with Crabs and won't beat Hawks either.

Please explain Crabs…. zero to hero.

There won't be a super team or lmass consolidation. There are some really good players on all 3 team and they will enjoy playing together instead of against each other for once.

Every year NL and Express swap a few players that will probably happen this year, too, but not because of the Black Ops team. My take:

1) Most of the Express players on BlackOps go to Bullis - some of them basically get their education covered by their affiliation with the team. They will be playing together at school and will be stronger as a club team if they have those reps together. There are a few other players that might want to check out some other teams but most of them have been on DCE for so long that they probably aren't moving unless they aren't getting playing time on the main squad because of the older reclasses.
2) The NL players won't to go to DCE because they feel like they have a strong team right now. They have also watched the coaches and don't want to be abused like that (I know there is a difference between DCE and BLC - but it still happens), and unless they are Bullis boys they know they will not be a priority. There are a few that may try it out - they do every year. Usually the kids that swap don't play much unless they are reclassing.
3) The VLC boys have been playing together for a long time as well. The geography of practices just doesn't work to combine.

I think all of these teams may pick up Madlax players.

DCE coaches are abusive? How so?

The 2026 BLC team has been coached by a DCE coach all year and there has been no reports of bullying as far as I know. It’s my understanding this coach will continue with the 2026s as they enter DCE.

DCE coach is amazing. According to my son one of the best coaches he has ever had.

Who?

The BLC (soon to be DCE) coach. Borrowing a page from the MadLax playbook, promising more roster spots than he actually has, so players will be disappointed on the orange team or the bench. Buyer beware.

If you are good enough to make DCE Black then that is where you will be. Good luck at tryouts!

Is he promising roster spots or simply encouraging boys to attend tryouts? If the latter that is what he is supposed to be doing! Doesn't mean he is going to "oversell" the roster.
