Uh, no. DCUM called this in January. I stocked up on Feb 26 and warned my boss we'd be teleworking.

The govt should be smarter than I am.

You are kidding right, FACT a trump new in December. Most people if they had a brain knew in February.

Maybe you were. I was getting my team ready for 100% telework.

I have a friend on that ship. She went because at the time, there was no warning not to. She felt it would be fine, given that they were staying in South America, and that seemed far from trouble.

I thought she was mad to go.

Your friend is an idiot.

Nice. Did that make you feel superior?

The poor woman you are judging is probably petrified. Can you be humane? Compassionate?

People, all of mankind is in a crisis. Resist your snarky selves, and find your better person. This is the moment.

Both things are true. I feel bad for them and I am SMH that they could be so stupid.

And I had a fully stocked pantry and toilet paper to last through April.

Does your concern extend beyond your own family and their pantry?

America's individualism has such an ugly underbelly.

+1 Just because people were clueless, unintelligent, or misled doesn’t mean we shouldn’t feel sorry for them when tragedy strikes. Think about how scary this situation is for them.

This information was just broadcast on MSNBC. They interviewed two passengers on the ship who said they went on the cruise because Florida's governor said "people should go on with their lives" and President Trump said, "This will be over soon" (paraphrasing the interview content).

Tell me why we are bailing out the cruise industry again?

Because we don't want clean oceans or air?

Read the article! The cruise began in Argentina and was supposed to end in Chile-it had nothing to do with Florida, the governor or the President!

True, but PPs statement still holds water.

Same. On Feb 28 DH had flu symptoms and his doc said they had no tests for the coronavirus. But he’d send an order for one if he could.

Students abroad were trickling back as late as last week. 3/22. Some are still there.
As for the cruise ship detailed information about the Diamond Princess states that if they had been allowed to LEAVE the ship only about 70 would have been infected. I feel for the people left on that ship.
Wasn’t the famous ship the Mary Celeste? 1800s ?

They are trying to move healthy people off the ship. But today's healthy is tomorrow's positive test, in those circumstances...

Panama denied passage through the canal. Both ships are now turned around and heading back north trying to secure a place to dock in South America.

To be fair to Panama, passage requires workers to board the ship to help traverse the canal which is why they declined.
