omg please no.

Panama has no authority to "allow" a cruise ship to port in Florida.

You don't read carefully, do you.

Passing through the Panama Canal is not the same thing as getting permission to port in Florida.

Regardless, I feel for the passengers on that ship and if Fort Lauderdale allows that ship to port that is their call to make. It sounds like if they do port they will be taken to a military base for quarantine/observation. It's not like the passengers are going to disembark and make a beeline for the DMV so ya'll can relax. It'll be o.k.

I know! Why bother going on a cruise when you can order food online and have delivered to the safety of your home?? Some people are crazy!

Yeah, it would have been so much more fun to stay at home and run stealth missions to the store to buy up all of the toilet paper. You all really know how to live don't you?

Call me reckless and wild and crazy for going on a cruise. I really don't care. Neither did my fellow passengers - we all had a blast.

It's really just super stupid. It's not even reckless and wild and crazy- I've certainly had travel like that!- because it was something that endangered you and potentially others but....it's the most boring, pedestrian, basic kind of vacation one could do! A cruise! Lol. Sure, we are in the middle of a global pandemic, but let's go watch some third rate comic and est fried frozen seafood buffet. Woohoo!

You are no fun at all, are you?

I'm loads of fun which is why I wouldn't want to potentially waste my last breath playing shuffleboard with granny on some floating petri dish cruise.

Yes, I'm sure that the little safe cave that you've made for yourself under the dining room table is sooo much more fun.

I've spent my life in global hotspots, I'm not some kind of cave person, I'm just not an idiot who gets her jollies putting others lives in danger so I can work on my base tan and drink pinata coladas.

Then stay in your safe place, develop office butt and eat yourself into a diabetic coma. I don't care what you do.

To be fair, food was delivered to each cabin for many cruises in March. You couldn't leave the cabin, but food was put outside the door.

The navy should prevent them from docking or sink

No. I was on a cruise and the only time we got room service was when we ordered it which was not often. The rest of the time we were at the various bars, the pool, the sun decks, the casinos, the dining room, the theaters....well, you get the picture.

Definitely not hiding under a table slurping down delivery food.

It's not like they are bringing a virus into the country that is not already here.

If anything we might gain a better understanding of the virus by observing those passengers. There's a bright side to everything.

Not in Florida. Florida is safe if we can keep the others out.

I'm kind of thinking that if Florida can make those passengers go into quarantine at a military base, then people from other hot spots can be expected to do the same. Fair is fair.

Um, no - Florida is way past that.

+1. The hell you talking about, Florida is safe? The number of cases just doubled in two days.

The problem would be if they get off the ship in FL and disperse...the virus is mostly in a few hotspots, but if these people scatter all over, renting cars, flights, the train ect...that could spread it.

The plan I've heard is to take them directly from the ship to a military base to quarantine. Holland America is supposed to foot the bill for masks and other supplies necessary to make the transport as safe as possible.
