OMG-4 passengers just died on a Holland America cruise ship headed for Florida

Anonymous
I am very pro cruising (not now obviously) and I cannot believe these people got on this boat and that Carnival/Holland America let them! I was supposed to take a cruise April 6th that thankfully got cancelled but no way I would have boarded a ship March 7, even if I had to eat the entire cost myself.

This.

Did you see the Fla beaches and bars on March 17? Courtesy of that state's craven governor?

Look at some of the postings on this very site, about people wondering if they should take advantage of travel deals.

People like to keep their head in the sand, and responsible leaders work against that...they don't join in the subterfuge.

I'm sorry they lost their lives for their stupidity, but sheesh.

We're all on lockdown, not allowed out of our houses except essential purposes, and these people think they have a right to go socialize on a cruise ship?

Sorry, but no sympathy here.

But it was so cheap!

On a more serious note, right wing talk show hosts are willing to sacrifice our older citizens for the stock market. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/03/27/now-we-know-conservative-devotion-life-ends-birth/

This ship set sail March 7. State department warning issued March 8.

So? Even if a lot of people weren't officially on LOCKDOWN at that time (which they were!), and people weren't DYING worldwide and within this country of something we have NO treatment for (which they were!), do you really think something is perfectly safe and a fantastic idea unless the U.S. government officially stops you from doing it?

This information was just broadcast on MSNBC. They interviewed two passengers on the ship who said they went on the cruise because Florida's governor said "people should go on with their lives" and President Trump said, "This will be over soon" (paraphrasing the interview content).

Read the article! The cruise began in Argentina and was supposed to end in Chile-it had nothing to do with Florida, the governor or the President!

Idiot, that information came from a reporter WHO INTERVIEWED SOMEONE CURRENTLY ON THE BOAT. The passenger said that she based her decision to go on the cruise on what she heard from those two politicians.

And the boat IS headed to Florida (though they may not be allowed to dock).

Can you refrain from posting information online when you are DEAD WRONG

Oh, wait, you are a Trump follower, so that is what you people specialize in: spreading misinformation.

READ THE ARTICLE, STUPID! Everything coronavirus related is not related to Florida! Your bias is showing, I get it, you don't like Fl's governor because he is Republican.

I'm not affiliated with either party, but it's not the governor's fault if people went on cruises in other countries, or lick toilet seats or have beers with the neighbors. Sheesh.

If you believe your president and he says “this will be over soon", then why not go?

It’s not about what I would do. Of course I wouldn’t go on a cruise or travel anywhere right now or wouldn’t have anytime in the past couple months. Because I read the news. It shouldn’t be up to individual citizens to make these decisions. A responsible president who cared about the people in their country would have issued warnings and ordered cancellations a lot sooner which would have prevented a lot of illness and death. A responsible cruise ship line would not have set sail. Don’t give people the option. Sure the passengers on that ship should’ve known better but they didn’t as many ordinary citizens don’t. We need better leadership to keep disasters like this from spiraling so far out of control.

I don't the the president could order anything for a cruise that began and was supposed to end, in another country.

I love how everyone is condemning the Spring Breakers, but the national media somehow feels sorry for these cruise passengers. They should bear just as much shame!

He could have said “don’t go on a cruise”, but he said “this will all be over soon”.

Sure, but it’s not going to be able to handle the volume.

Well Florida is not going to help them.

You people are crazy. On March 7th, we were all still going about our lives. No way they could have known what this would become.

They are all stupid and didn’t take it seriously. Just like the POTUS.
