You are a ridiculous dumbass.

Feb. 4: Diamond Princess cruise ship quarantined in Yokohama, Japan. Over 2,600 guests and over 1,000 crew. Within two days, over 40 people test positive for COVID-19, including eight Americans.

How does anyone get on a cruise ship a month later?

JAPAN!

This is a difficult thread to read.

I have a friend on that ship. She went because at the time, there was no warning not to. She felt it would be fine, given that they were staying in South America, and that seemed far from trouble.

I thought she was mad to go.

This information was just broadcast on MSNBC. They interviewed two passengers on the ship who said they went on the cruise because Florida's governor said "people should go on with their lives" and President Trump said, "This will be over soon" (paraphrasing the interview content).

Read the article! The cruise began in Argentina and was supposed to end in Chile-it had nothing to do with Florida, the governor or the President!

Idiot, that information came from a reporter WHO INTERVIEWED SOMEONE CURRENTLY ON THE BOAT. The passenger said that she based her decision to go on the cruise on what she heard from those two politicians.

And the boat IS headed to Florida (though they may not be allowed to dock).

Can you refrain from posting information online when you are DEAD WRONG

Oh, wait, you are a Trump follower, so that is what you people specialize in: spreading misinformation.

READ THE ARTICLE, STUPID! Everything coronavirus related is not related to Florida! Your bias is showing, I get it, you don't like Fl's governor because he is Republican.

I'm not affiliated with either party, but it's not the governor's fault if people went on cruises in other countries, or lick toilet seats or have beers with the neighbors. Sheesh.

I realize we've completely normalized the deranged absurdity of Trump, but once upon a time in America, people trusted what the president and governors told them. Older people are more likely to have this blind faith. So, yeah.

Serious question. Do you think you are making sense? Because you are not.

Some ships can’t find ports where they can dock

Yep. We knew about it then. Idiots. I cancelled my trip to NYC for that weekend. What did they expect?

I'm sorry about your friend. I'm the person who went on the cruise to the Caribbean on March 7 which originated out of the U.S.

I don't know that I would have gone on the cruise that your friend went on though. Different country, different risk altogether.

Of course, I'm making sense. Some people still believe what their government tells them. So, if the President who is deliberately obfuscating the risk because he fears it will make him look bad and a governor who is hostile to science tells you it's OK, some people will take them at their word, especially if that message was being amplified by their preferred choice of news media, the anti-America propaganda channel called Fox News. The point is, we SHOULD be able to rely on what our leaders tell us. But this president -- who is by every account the worse human ever to lead any government office, ever, has destroyed that. So, they are going to die. And so will hundreds of thousands of others.

I hope Trump gets the virus and dies an agonizing death alone. And takes that moron Pence with him. They are not only garbage Americans, they are vile humans.

And if you support him, I wish the same fate for you.

Tell me why we are bailing out the cruise industry again?

We aren't. Check the news reports like Wash Po. Because major cruise lines aren't headquartered in the US, they will not qualify.

Exactly. How fast people forget.

We had already cancelled all travel and had our 65k employees across the US preparing to go remote for the foreseeable future. All international travel had been cancelled by the last week in February. What kind of a rock were you living under that all was ok March 7th? It was abundantly clear by that point that going on a cruise would be completely idiotic. "No way they could have known??!" WTF.

Planning for your business is different than planning for your own personal vacation. There are a ton more moving parts involved in corporate planning....it's a bigger ship to turn so to speak.

For the last time. That ship did not originate out of this country nor were there ever any plans to port in this country. Florida was not ever an intended destination. Your anger is completely misdirected. The Governor of Florida's responsibility is to the safety and well being of Florida.

He could have said “don’t go on a cruise”, but he said “this will all be over soon”.

Lol. You are really reaching.

I went on a March 7th cruise to the western Caribbean and it was absolutely wonderful, everyone on the ship was having a fun time, I am so glad that we were able to go before the cruise ships were stopped. I can honestly say that I am glad I went on that cruise as opposed to going to NYC...which we had talked about doing.

How does it make you feel to read that everyone on this thread would have no sympathy if you were dying now because you did that.

This pandemic is bringing the lord of the flies types in our culture

They knowingly and deliberately put the rest of us at risk just to have some FUN. Absolutely no other reason except to have a bit of fun. So yeah, I have no sympathy.

But if I had gone to a real high risk area (NYC) you would have sympathy for me? Make some sense.

If you had gone to a crowded wedding in NYC that week, we would also say you are stupid.

Name a place in NYC that isn't crowded on a normal day. There are 8.6 million people in that city. Yet, travel was not BANNED that weekend and no one who did go to NYC that week thought for a second that they would be unable to get back home.

Bottom line is, a Coronavirus quarantine could have happened anywhere at anytime to anyone. You are just hyper focused on cruise ships. It could just as easily have been your office building or your kid's school.

?? You can leave NYC any time and come home. Even now. Or school. Or a building. Can you really not tell the difference between your office and a ship out in international waters?

They bought their tickets. They knew what they were getting into. I say - let ‘em crash!

I’ll be sure to tell her that if I get to spend time with her again.

What a charmer you must be in real life.

Uh, no. DCUM called this in January. I stocked up on Feb 26 and warned my boss we'd be teleworking.

The govt should be smarter than I am.
