More than 100 passengers have symptoms, along with more than 80 crew members.
This information was just broadcast on MSNBC. They interviewed two passengers on the ship who said they went on the cruise because Florida's governor said "people should go on with their lives" and President Trump said, "This will be over soon" (paraphrasing the interview content). |
If you are dumb enough to get on a cruise right now, I don't have much sympathy. You need to make your own decisions instead of blaming everyone else. |
Four “older" passengers aboard a cruise ship operated by Holland America have passed away after exhibiting influenza-like symptoms, the cruise line confirmed Friday. |
Side note - every cruise ship has its own morgue for when people die on board. |
This ship set sail March 7:

Sure, but it’s not going to be able to handle the volume. |
If only it was just the stupid, stubborn people who died.
No. They endanger the lives of others who understood the danger and sought to protect themselves. |
Read the article! The cruise began in Argentina and was supposed to end in Chile-it had nothing to do with Florida, the governor or the President! |

CREEPY! |
I was flabbergasted when I learned my friend's college daughter was going ahead with her caribbean cruise with her bf over spring break. I was flabbergasted to learn cruise ships were still operating at all. She came back no no reports of illness and no difficulties docking (I assume they went out of Florida, definitely from the east coast). |
There were plenty of warnings of the risks. And it's also incredibly selfish to go on a cruise anyway right now.
We're all on lockdown, not allowed out of our houses except essential purposes, and these people think they have a right to go socialize on a cruise ship? Sorry, but no sympathy here. |
The ports were closed to departures in Florida on March 14, I believe. I don't like that this ship is headed to Fl-it should go back to Argentina. |
Last I heard, Florida was not going to allow it to come into port. I feel bad for the people on board but Florida wasn't their original destination anyway. |
This ship set sail March 7. State department warning issued March 8. |
