Restrictions should have been enacted sooner, period. You cannot leave it up to individuals and companies to make the correct, informed decision. When you do, you end up with cases like this, which will endanger many more people than just those on the cruise ship once it does come to shore.
My nephew went on an international trip with a group from his high school over spring break. In their case, my SIL said the high school considered cancelling and actually thought they were doing due diligence by contacting the local health authorities for advice. The local health official referred to official guidance from State and CDC and said it shouldn't be a problem because it was not an affected country. Of course, while they were gone the sh-t hit the fan and things changed fast. |

I am confused. We sent special planes to rescue americans from Japan, peru, etc. How can we leave US citizens on an infected ship right off our shores?
We send special forces in to hostile territory to rescue captured Americans. Isn't the government obligated to let these people back in their own country? Who else is responsible for their care and rescue? |
