S/O teen pregnancy- would you rather be the parent of the pregnant girl or the baby daddy?

This is terrible but the boy has it way easier. He has so many more options at every step of the way. He’s not the one going through pregnancy, so his body and routine stays the same. He can walk away or not. Once the girl decides to keep the pregnancy her options are done.

He cannot walk away. He is responsible for child support payments for 18 years.

With what income???

They will both need to get incomes. He eventually will not pay child support because he’ll have 50/50 custody

Many people still pay CS with 50/50 because it is based on income.

Sadly, men fare much better in these situations than women. I've seen it first hand in my family.

By fate much better do you mean be absentee and deadbeat parents? I don’t see how refusing to support or see your child makes you better off. And I think any future wife/DIL should really think long and hard about a boy and his parents who think that he’s better off for having abandoned his child.

I’m curious about this. What rights do boys parents have over the baby? You all keep saying they sue for custody. I would fight so hard to keep my baby and not give my in-laws custody if she died or we had a baby as unmarried teens. I thought grandparents had zero rights?

If a boy terminated parental rights before a baby is born does he still owe child support?

I don’t think grandparents have rights

Yes.

He can give up legal custody. He can not terminate his parental responsibility to pay child support.

The only exception is if the mom wants another man - like a husband or boyfriend to adopt the baby. Then the father can completely terminate his rights/responsibilities. However, that only happens if the mom has someone else willing to adopt the baby which is highly unlikely with a teen mom.

who is the "she" who died?

Typically grandparents do not have rights--maternal or paternal.

However, the FATHER of the baby (the boy) has rights. If he chooses to hang out with his parents (baby's paternal grandparents) during his visitation/custody time, that is fine. Same with the mother of the baby (the girl.) Her parents (Maternal grandparents) do not have rights, but if she chooses to live at their home/hang out with them during HER custody/visitation time, that is fine.

Most people here are presuming that the father will not want to be involved.

So the teen parent making $13.00/hr will have to pay CS to the teen parent making $10.50/hr?

I’m female but honestly that sucks for the guy. He doesn’t get to choose if the baby goes up for adoption. Kind of sad all around.

Those of you who say abortion- do you really think you can force your daughter down that path? Would you be OK with them blaming you for the rest of their lives if they didn't really want it?

I’d NEVER forgive my mother or anyone else if they tried to pressure me to kill my unplanned child. Actually, my employer tried to convince me to kill her, just like Michael Bloomberg did to his pregnant employees.

I took a new job, and then went on to have a beautiful baby daughter. Thank God!!!

Fascinating to me that so many posters who could not control their daughter getting pregnant think they would be able to control what she did after that.

You all are discussing who is less up the shit creek and the consensus is that the boy can abdicate and walk away from his responsibility. This would be baby is eliciting the same response as mexican kids in cages at the border. You all don't care so please be humane and terminate. you

The "humane" choice is killing the baby.
