Women need love and attention and care. They are delicate creatures and they need to be kept well maintained. Look at Arab or Persian women. Thats how a woman is supposed to look. Their husbands keep them flush with money and comfort.

This is where men come in too. They need to go back to being primary breadwinners and take on the hard job of earning a living.

I'm rather proud I can work long hours, make more money than my husband and be a good mother. Sorry you can't do it all.

Nobody's impressed

Sure.

Yes, of course, unless someone's husband is a total jerk, they care about things about their spouse other than their weight. The point is that one should be interested in staying attractive for one's significant other up to a reasonable point. That doesn't mean completely obsessing over appearance. I lost 10 lbs over the past year, and DH didn't really notice because I don't look all that different at 135 vs. 125 lbs. So that change was for me. But I also don't wear sweatpants all the time, or tshirts with giant holes in the armpit, because that would be unattractive to DH. To clean up the basement or whatever, sure. But most of the time, I try to look a bit nicer.

Are you in menopause?

That's not something I care to share with you or anyone else on DCUM.

Try losing 10 pounds when you are in menopause and come back to us.

Whatever makes you feel better to think, honey.

LOL women are total beyotches

I saw this! What struck me is how dead-ugly her husband is. Like this woman is slaving over herself to keep in shape for a weird looking dude with a double chin. Cant imagine anything more depressing...

If you have to quit your job in order to stay fit, then you aren't really interested in staying fit. A poor diet and lack of exercise isn't dependent on your work status.

It's easier to exercise if you don't have to work around that pesky 50 hour job + commute commitment though, plus more time to cook healthy meals.

I don't know why people keep saying that cooking healthy meals takes longer. All you have to do is shop and plan ahead. If you're comparing it to ordering pizza or bringing home fast food, then you're right...but that's a you problem. Also, just because something is EASIER, doesn't mean it's impossible...you just have to make it a priority. Even with a FT job and commute and child care, most people can find a few hours per week to get some exercise. And, it's not the lack of exercise that makes most people fat, it's their diet and food choices. It's just easier for people to say, "I don't have time to exercise 1 hour each day" and accept being fat. The fact is that most people actually don't have the time or energy to exercise each day but making good food choices takes little to no time. You just have to plan ahead.

Exactly. Tonight we had frozen wild salmon burgers grilled and while on the grill threw fresh broccoli in the grill basket. I had my burger in a lettuce wrap, the rest of thr family in a bun. I work FT, walk the dog 3 brisk miles a day, walk most days on thr WOD on my lunch break, and do a series of arm and ab exercise before bed on the bedroom floor. Im 43 5'9" 140lbs and have grest labs.

That's out of their control.

I agree, and I bet most men do too.

Check your BMI here. No more lies or BS about being "big boned" or "full figured." There are countless DCUM threads about this. DHs -- make more money and communicate more. DWs -- talk/complain less, have more sex, and have a BMI <25 (in the normal/healthy zone): https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/educational/lose_wt/BMI/bmicalc.htm

She wrote that women are equally shallow in that we are turned on by money and power (Um, whatever you need to tell yourself) so I eagerly anticipate her followup ordering men to spend long hours at the office to turn on their wives

+1. A feminist man here and I agree with you and the author. I expected to hate the article by it's title but it rings true. Especially the question asking women how they would feel if their man gained 20 pounds vs. him having long term unemployment. Judging by these boards, the latter triggers far, far more complaints than the former.

Men and women each have obligations to each other but they aren't measured the same.
