I really loved the Superbar. The Mexican section had chili, chips and soft tortillas and the salad bar section had chocolate pudding for dessert. I think my mother took us there to eat 2xweek for several years. I can still remember the taste and smell, too. And the condensation that always gathered on everything!

1/2 cow of not so great beef delivered to our freezer and endless napoleon dynamite steaks for dinner every nite with some rice roni type side or baked potato. With canned veggies. Ugh.

That awful grey slimey "chop suey" in a can. I thought I hated Chinese food.

Ham salad from the deli. I hated it as a kid. Haven't ever seen it as an adult.

I would pay a not small amount of money for a rally burger and spicy curly fries from Rally's... Which ironically enough, we ate because we were so poor.

My husband and I are both the same age, but he has no recollection of the Wendy's Superbar, and it just makes me sad for him.

AND TWO flavors of pudding!

KFC used to sell a chocolate pudding that I loved.

Taco "salad" where Doritos were the primary vehicle for the topping!

Salad made with iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and that Four seasons salad dressing that you mixed up in a little carafe.

Deli ham spread with cream cheese and wrapped around a pickle - can't have a party without those!
Chicken Kiev (still exists, but the chicken quality isn't great, and I don't know any restaurants that make it)
Chex Mix, but made with an ungodly amount of butter
Banana Slush - homemade. The adults would add a little tipple.
And until I was about five, my retired baker grandfather made all our bread. It was amazing.
Grandma's Strawberry Jam!

Turkey tetrazzini. One day I and two of my friends had leftover turkey tetrazzini on the same day.

Kool-aid

Fondue

Chow mein that was nothing like any Chinese person ever cooked.

Planter's Cheez Balls

Seven-layer bean dip

Spinach dip

This is more an early 00's thing, but I remember surviving almost completely on Lean Pockets and something called Chicken Voila! in my first apartment during college. I actually considered myself to be "cooking" when I dumped the frozen Voila stuff into a pan and heated it through. Bless my heart.
