Lol. I remember thinking this looked AWESOME from the commercials but sadly never tried it since my folks were vegetarian.

I just cooked a big crockpot of baked beans, potatoes and hotdogs on Thursday night and manwiches on Friday night. And I was contemplating steak ums. I have been able to find them at Giant awhile back. I get stuck back in time every now and then.

My mom would get a big log of bologna at the grocers and slice it herself with a meat slicer, then all 8 of us kids would each get a bologna and mayo sandwich on white bread for lunch with an apple. Of course the apple would land on top of the sandwich. I stopped eating lunch, and my friends would feed me their white bread and butter or apple crisp from their cafeteria lunches.

I was in line at the grocery store a few months ago, and someone told me that she used to run an in-home daycare. For lunch, she would usually serve chef boyardee raviolis, milk and applesauce. She said that she wanted to make sure to give the kids a good meal while they were there so that the parents didn't have to worry. Lol.

Anyone remember steak ums'?

You can still get Manwich.

Roast beef, mashed potatoes, yorkshires and veg was our standard Sunday supper.

Hah! I used to attend an in-home daycare, where the provider would feed us ramen for lunch. Chef boyardee would have been a step up!

My mom would make ramen for breakfast (without anything added to the standard noodles and salt packet). I had no idea that it was not a healthy meal until I had my own kids.

My moms chicken divan was chicken, broccoli and mayonnaise covered in bread crumbs. Blech.

I feel like we ate Beanie Weenies a lot!

I remember Chicken Tonight being not good which was saying a lot back then. But it really wasn't. Good jingle though.

I still miss the BK Broiler chicken sandwich at Burger King.

LOVE beanies and weenies!!! My kids request this now

You had roast beef and Yorkshire pudding every Sunday? Lucky!

Perhaps older than some of you, but I spent a lot of time in the late 80s-mid 90s at TGI Fridays eating loaded potato skins and drinking Mudslides at happy hour.

LOL. No Harvey Wallbangers or Sex on the Beach? Or a good ol' Long Island Iced Tea?

I've done the Applebee's Bahama Mama on a work day less than a year ago. Cheers!

I'm 46, but my years of off campus college living was late 80/early 90s. I made gallons of Crystal Light and recall it coming not in single serve pac but a small, mini tube with powder and a scoop. I'd make a pitcher and share with my housemates.

Also, Slim Fast! Shake for breakfast, shake for lunch, and a sensible dinner. My housemates and I all "did" SlimFast to save money on food AND to lose weight, which was difficult considering we drank like fish on weekends.

Anonymous wrote:My mom always made "Olivia Salad". I'm not sure what it was really supposed to be called, or maybe it was a spin off of something else (but I know it wasn't really supposed to be called Olivia Salad). It was layered in a 9x13 glass dish: lettuce, mayonnaise, peas, shredded cheese. Maybe a couple things like chopped ham? Anybody else have this a lot in the 80s and 90s?

Maybe it's a version of the Persian Salad Olivieh?
