Agree. Even if you don't support welfare and schools for altruistic reasons, which you should, it's beneficial to the economy to have an educated workforce and some wealth redistribution. Not to mention you won't be able to keep your money anyway if there was no welfare or public school Bc there would be either a massive increase in crime and/or revolution. The best thing for our economy long term would be to pay for at least 2 years of public university for everyone. |
Problem not gonna get solved bitching about it in here. If you're really that ticked off then get a legal team and put a case together and take it to court saying that the Sixteenth Amendment, which grants Congress the "power to lay and collect taxes on incomes", is unconstitutional. If that's too much trouble for you then I guess all you really DO WANT to do is exercise your First Amendment right to whine about shit you don't like which you're definitely doing - congratulations. |
PP here... I think you *should* move. This country (the most to offer) obviously doesn't agree with you. Hungary/Russia/N. Ireland is paradise on earth. (one less moron in this country - sgtm) |
There is this thing called the social contract, kid. Social contract theory dates to the Age of the Enlightenment, but basically it boils down to avoiding a Hobbesian existence where life is nasty, brutish and short. Once you agree to form a community for mutual security, you create an obligation to create a social safety net. I realize that since the dawn of this country, there's been this fundamental question of which is more important: The individual or the group. But the reality is, the individual cannot reach his or her full potential without providing for the group, too. By the way, truth is "not" relative. Truth is the opposite of moral relativism. I'm not sure where you're forming your ideas, but they're more than just boorish and immature -- they lack a fundamental understanding of the building blocks of public policy. Be careful to know what you don't know -- because you clearly don't know a lot. I know you're young, but really -- you don't want to be one of these fools who's frequently wrong but rarely in doubt. |
The person who started this is a high school student. I think we should treat him very kindly. |
OP, I don't understand why I have to pay for your mortgage tax deduction which you will probably waste on expensive consumer goods. |
Why? |
oh, right, and OP will probably lament not having any social services when OP is old or gets really sick. OP - your life perspective will change when you get older, at least educated people do. You may not become a flaming liberal, but you will not see things as black/white. Life is shades of gray. |
Oh that guy? The one who keeps threatening to move to places he thinks don't provide national health care? Loved it when he threatened to move to Australia, land of national healthcare and strong gun control laws. Dude! Wikipedia is your friend! |
I would love to see that argument. ![]() |
You going to love Hungary. It has a 27% Value-Added Tax. Russia has an 18% sales tax and personal income taxes totaling 43% for income and Social Security. Have fun. |
Uh, there's a major flaw in this analogy. Supported of gay marriage and abortion rights tell you to not engage in associated activities if you don't want to but we also don't want you to interfere with the right of others to engage in these activities, so, no, you don't have the right to just violate whatever rights you feel like. This is why we have laws, OP, and you don't get to pick and choose which ones you follow. That would be self-indulgent. |
He is in high school, but the "prep" is because he longs for a world where everyone wears blazers and khakis. |
And he's an almost blind ex-preemie of Middle Eastern descent whose country plans to marry a white woman have gotten him kicked off all the neo-Nazi forums so he came here to bug us. |
Why do I have to pay for wars? I don't believe in them.
I don't believe in drones. I don't believe in the Patriot Act. I don't think we should have a CIA. I don't think we should have a National Park Service. No, not really. But we don't get to pick and choose what our tax dollars go to. Except abortion of course. No tax dollars for abortion since it bothers YOU. While Medicare keeps those Viagra pills and penis pumps coming! |
