I shouldn't have even started this thread. I've heard everything you guys are saying before. I am of the Far-Right. I have no one who represents me. I hate both parties, and all talk radio hosts. I grew up in Texas and respect the people that live there, although they can certainly elect some characters to government. However, I don't really understand what you mean by far-right. You're saying you don't like welfare, well okay, nobody does. You're saying you don't think there should be public schools? I hadn't heard that before. Do you envision an old-fashioned governess-type situation for the rich and the rest just getting by from what they pick up off the internet? Can you elaborate?

Public Schools benefit society by providing common literacy in math, engineering, language, medicine, etc. You probably have benefitted from public schools by utilizing the skills and knowledge of former graduates...maybe a book you read, a car you drove, or a pill you took all helped you and all of society. Welfare can be thought of as social insurance. Providing some level of insurance allows people to take risks to make themselves better society better. It also allows people to survive while they better themselves. Think of poor children who can focus on education, rather than on stealing their food.

I think society is better off with these things. We have many benefits from public education. The post-WWII GI bill is credited with a lot of growth in America. I think crime and distrust will rise without public education and welfare.

Of course, you are likely to find freeloaders everywhere and I am sure you will respond with some answers. There is no perfect answer.

For me, though, this is a moral issue. I prefer a well-educated and well-fed happy society, so I am willing to pay for it.

You mean stealing shoes because there is no food shortage in the us compared to the rest of the world. Of course the free university part well that and more influence of left leaning reform or policy will attract more economic migrants just look at whats happening in europe where everyone wants a piece of the pie
