When I talk to Liberals about gay marriage and abortion they often say " If you don't support gay marriage, don't marry a man" and " if you don't support abortion, date a woman who doesn't support abortion" So if truth is relative, and it's all about what we "want", why should I pay for 1. Welfare ( food stamps, Section 8 Housing, etc) AND Public schools and universities. I DONT WANT to pay for these. Here's what I'll say. If you want public education and welfare, personally donate your money to the government, so they can specifically use it on this. You have NO RIGHT to use my money for these things.
There is this thing called the social contract, kid. Social contract theory dates to the Age of the Enlightenment, but basically it boils down to avoiding a Hobbesian existence where life is nasty, brutish and short. Once you agree to form a community for mutual security, you create an obligation to create a social safety net. I realize that since the dawn of this country, there's been this fundamental question of which is more important: The individual or the group. But the reality is, the individual cannot reach his or her full potential without providing for the group, too. By the way, truth is "not" relative. Truth is the opposite of moral relativism. I'm not sure where you're forming your ideas, but they're more than just boorish and immature -- they lack a fundamental understanding of the building blocks of public policy. Be careful to know what you don't know -- because you clearly don't know a lot. I know you're young, but really -- you don't want to be one of these fools who's frequently wrong but rarely in doubt.
