Why should I have to pay for welfare, public schools, Section 8 housing, etc?

Please guys: OP is a child. You are parents. Stop teasing him. Leave him alone. I know he is asking for it, but you are adults and he is not.

OP and this thread

You know what I don't want? I don't want gangs of hungry, jobless, desperate people accosting me on the street looking for a handout and possibly threatening worse. I don't want a shantytown where my neighborhood park used to be. I don't want our country to lose its intellectual capital to foreigners because our own population isn't well-educated enough to compete in the global economy. That's why I'm happy to pay taxes, even if they go to priorities that don't benefit me directly.

Why are conservatives so totally myopic about this stuff?

"I got mine, fuck you all."

You know, just like Jesus said.

But yet you want to legalize all illegal migrants in the US and not penalize the businesses who hire them and accept (economic) refugees.

He is a child who posed a question to a group of adults. Most of us disagree with him and have been explaining why, including pointing out that his youthful inexperience precludes some life experiences that might deepen his understanding of the issues he was asking about. He clearly thinks he has it all figured out, based on very limited criteria and logical fallacies galore - he met a 60yo hippie who is now a conservative, therefore all hippies will eventually become conservatives, for example.

Please highlight that section of my post.

Where did the PP say that?

I am not the PP. I do want to legalize SOME of the people who came here illegally. Not all of them, but I think that figuring out a way to naturalize people who have been here for a long time, working, is preferable to deporting them en masse. I thought the DREAM Act was a good idea. I thought Obama's plan was generally good as well, though immigration is not one of my hot-button issues so I don't know the ins and outs as well as others.

I do think that businesses who hire undocumented workers should be stiffly penalized. I realize that in real time, that is likely to harm the livelihoods of the undocumented employees, but this problem is propped up by corporations who do not want to pay decent wages or permit collective bargaining. It is nothing short of exploitative to hire workers who will not complain about you for fear of getting deported and then fire them or call ICE when they're no longer useful or getting too uppity.

If your views are not myopic and you find it offensive that someone would say so, maybe practice what you preach.

1. Welfare ( food stamps, Section 8 Housing, etc)
AND
Public schools and universities.
I DONT WANT to pay for these. Here's what I'll say. If you want public education and welfare, personally donate your money to the government, so they can specifically use it on this. You have NO RIGHT to use my money for these things.

Problem not gonna get solved bitching about it in here.
If you're really that ticked off then get a legal team and put a case together and take it to court saying that the Sixteenth Amendment, which grants Congress the "power to lay and collect taxes on incomes", is unconstitutional.
If that's too much trouble for you then I guess all you really DO WANT to do is exercise your First Amendment right to whine about shit you don't like which you're definitely doing - congratulations.

You are suggesting that a constitutional amendment is unconstitutional? Ok, op is an idiot, but he's young and doesn't know any better. What's your excuse?

+1. Well said.

OP, when I was in (private) high school and living a very sheltered life, I was very conservative and very convinced I was right. I now consider myself a centrist. I would urge you to keep an open mind over the next few years. It's amazing how much world is out there. You certainly won't change your mind about everything, but it's unrealistic to think that the views you hold at 18 will not be challenged or changed. Some of them will be and should be and, truly, you should welcome that. That's part of growing up and why you don't see 18-year-olds running things.

So, I sincerely urge you to try to keep an open mind as you experience college and the world beyond. I guarantee it will benefit you, whether or not any of your opinions are changed. As you can see from this thread, the reality is that those who dig their heels in and remain intractible are often disregarded by others as unintelligent. Those who show a willingness to listen and an effort to truly understand the other side of an issue are more often the ones who earn the respect of people on both sides.

Dude, you are in high school. I doubt you even have any money.

Watch small children actually starve to death in front of you. See people suffer from lack of access to medicine and clean water that you take for granted. Spend some time with teeneagers who fall into drugs because they have no hope for a better life. See the pure anguish in the eyes of a mother who cannot feed her child. Then come back and let us know if you want all that here in your country. Until then, no one cares what you think, because you have no real.experience at all upon which to base your "opinions." Your ignorance is appalling.

Kindly shut up. I don't GIVE A DAMN about these people.

You are one of those people, kiddo. And, my tax dollars will go to support you long after this phase has passed.

Your lack of humility is, of course, a part of being young. Life will show you, as it has all of us, that you are not invulnerable.

Oh, and there is PLENTY of abortion in Russia. I don't know where you got the idea otherwise.

OP, how do you plan to pay for tuition at Harvard Law School?

I hate both parties, and all talk radio hosts. You guys can mock and attack me all you want. My time will come. I have plans to run for the U.S Senate in 15-20 years representing Texas. This run will be the biggest test of my views. The Republican base is moving further and further to the right. I am on the fringe of the party, but I won't be for long. Go ahead and laugh. Cal, me whatever you want. I will do great things for the Far-Right!

Texas is not going to elect you if you are Middle Eastern.

Right. That's why they elect Hispanics.

Do you think Hispanics and Middle Easterners are the same?

The stupidity of the Left is amazing. If I run as a conservative Christian against some Leftist, they won't care about my skin color.

You won't make it out of the primary against a good old boy to get to the election against the leftist, moron.

Go do some ACT prep.

Wrong. I'm a very Charismatic speaker, and if I achieve my ultimate goal( attending Harvard Law School), I'll have plenty of connections and wealthy friends. I hold fast to my principles. This will differ me from the lying scum in the GOP.

So you are pretending it is 1985ish and you are a young Ted Cruz espousing your views and plans for the future. Good one OP
