The first thing I told DH after we saw then film was that I found it quite distracting that he didn't look anything like Han and Leia. He looked like Alan Rickman's son.

We thought Adam Driver was horribly miscast.

I actually thought he might be Alan rock an before the mask was off, while most of the time he did not sound British, he did occasionally get nasally and British, causing me to ask DH if he thought maybe Snape was under there.

I was unimpressed with the character of Rey and the actor who pportrayed him. Completely underwhelmed.

In the beginning it seemed to me that a disobedient storm trooper would be killed in the spot. I know they needed him for the storyline but it just didn't fit for me.

You mean Finn? I liked his character, from a poor stormtrooper to a man running away to a man ready to fight back.

I really liked him too, I enjoyed watching the development of his character

Loved the movie! My thoughts.

1. I definitely think Rey is Luke's daughter. My husband is not convinced, guess we will have to wait for the next movie to find out.

2. Was underwhelmed by the death of Han Solo scene. I think they had just not built any sort of chemistry between Han and his son.

3. I was disappointed that Han and Leia were not together, but I guess having your son turn into the next dark lord can be hard on a marriage.

4. Loved the humor of this movie. It felt like the original series.

Question - how is it that Kylo Ren did not die in the last moments of that fiery destruction of the death star (whatever they called the new thing)? DH and I saw this movie twice and still don't get it. How did he not perish? In fact, how is there any First Order left?

Thanks!

That creep giant dude Snoke told some guy to get Ren and they all evacuated. I assume they picked him up like Chewy picked up Rey. While the death star/planet thing was imploding.

To me those parallels felt more like homages, than out right copies, if you see what I mean. It was exciting to see Hans Solo (the father) walk out onto that bridge with a Vader-esque character who was also his "son". There was something thrilling about it all.

+1, I just saw it this am with my sister. I just smiled so big when I saw the falcon for the first time. So many parallels and it all made me so happy!

There's a funny account I discovered on Twitter the other day. The handle is "Emo Kylo Ren." An example:

Emo Kylo Ren ?@KyloR3n 30 Dec 2015
dear diary
this one idiot ewok tripped and got a bucket stuck on his head
uncle lando goes "look, ben! it's you!"
he is the literal worst

I didn't mind the character of Finn, at all. It just didn't fit for me that he survived disobeying an order.

OMG.. quite they typo earlier!

I didn't mean Rey. I meant Ren.. Kylo Ren. Not impressed at all.

OP here.. let me try again with corrections. Wow.

I was unimpressed with the character of REN (not Rey ) and the actor who portrayed him. Completely underwhelmed.

Also, in the beginning it seemed to me that a disobedient storm trooper (Finn) would be killed in the spot. It just didn't "fit" for me that he would be allowed to survive.

Ben/ren said something about letting light creep in. Maybe that is why Finn lived?

How would lando's son have been handed over for storm trooper training?

Leia felt Han die, I think that might have been her "force" showing

I sadly was not as wowed. I thought the bad guys sucked. The ren costume was cheap looking. And he didn't seem capable of being a true bad guy - the 2 temper tantrums were just embarrassing.

As for Leia, waaaaay too much filler/Botox or whatever the hell they did to make her face frozen. It was like it was painful to talk.

I agree the Finn character sucked. Considering the fact that he was raised from childhood to be a storm trooper, chickened out most of the movie, and then could kill his fellow stormtroopers without even blinking an eye is completely unbelievable. Being trained from childhood to be some bad ass stormtrooper, and was pretty useless until his "sanitation" chops were needed. Plus the Kevin Hart faces didn't help...
