Pp, well spotted for the quote to be from episode 5 or 6.

Could Rey be Obi-wan's daughter? Or did someone here say that Jedis can't have romantic relationships?

As for Adam driver, I was disappointed that Kylo/Ben is not as handsome as his dad.

Rey is Ben's daughter, wtf? How would that be possible given her age and when Ben dies.

I think PP is referring to Kylo Ren, who's name was Ben before he went evil? I floated this idea too... they're too close in age though. Even if Rey is 15 and Ren is 30, it doesn't really gel. She's definitely not younger than 15 and he can't be older than 30.

This explains that Rey is most likely Luke's daughter

Okay, here's an ignorant question. Who was the "old ally" with the map at the beginning?

Also did anyone else think Han should have mentioned aleia on the bridge when talking to Ren? Like "Your mom wanted me to tell you she misses you and wants you to come home." I mean, boys have power struggles with dads--isn't the mom card the one to play?

I'm the PP you were quoting and thanks for pointing out that it was a question, and about Obi-wan, not Kylo. But thanks to the PP who pointed out that the age of Kylo/Ben, which appears to be a few years older than Rey, would make that problematic. Oh well; would have been an interesting aspect if it had been the case.

I think the vast assumption is that she is Luke's daughter; we will have to wait and see. Let's hope the wait is not too long.

I'm firmly in the Rey is Luke's daughter camp, but I thought this from Vanity Fair is interesting:

Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi
If some of the voices during Rey’s flashback sequence sounded familiar to you, there’s good reasons. As Rey touches Luke’s lightsaber she’s bombarded with images of Luke and R2D2, Kylo and the Knights of Ren, and herself as a young child. In the background, J.J. Abrams reveals, you can also hear a snippet of Mark Hamill screaming “Noooo” from Empire, a little bit of Frank Oz’s Yoda and, chillingly, the voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi saying, “Rey . . . these are your first steps.” It’s not Alec Guinness come back from the dead to record a new line of dialogue, that’s young Ben as voiced by Ewan McGregor. Abrams told Entertainment Weekly, “We asked Ewan McGregor to come in and do the line. And he was awesome and we were very grateful. He was incredibly sweet and handsome, and all that stuff. Then he rode off on his motorcycle. Literally the coolest voice over actor ever.” Kevin Smith and Abrams himself also leant their voices to The Force Awakens.

"Who is Lor San Tekka?

He’s the character, played by Max Von Sydow, who gets killed by Kylo Ren at the beginning of the film. What we know is Leia trusts him, he knows who Kylo Ren really is, and Kylo Ren knows him. He’s also, somehow, found a piece to Luke’s map. That’s not a lot, but he’s definitely important.

Read what the Star Wars database says: “A legendary traveler and explorer, Lor San Tekka is a longtime ally of the New Republic and the Resistance. After the Battle of Endor, San Tekka helped Luke Skywalker recover secret Jedi lore that the Empire had tried to erase, and Leia Organa hopes the old scout can now help find her brother. Following decades of adventure, San Tekka retired to live simply on Jakku, where he follows the dictates of the once-forbidden Church of the Force.” Can you say, Rogue One?"

Can we talk about what Luke could have been eating on that island?? Where / what was the food supply?

He uses the Force to make fish jump out of the sea into his frying pan.

Leia was a good example of well done fillers. I know she had to lose weight for the role, and unless there was cgi, that was all her- and fillers. Looked good. Carrie Fisher is a smoker and had a deeper voice than Han- a little offputting- but alas no facial stigmata of a smoker= again, well done fillers.

I noticed this too, PP, but I don't agree it was well-done. Maybe there's botox going on there as well, but both Carrie and Harrison seemed to have no upper lip movement. She had a lot of that blank-botoxed-filler look. I'd rather see wrinkles and expressions than smooth skin and bleakness.

I also think they went the wrong way with the way they showed her age. Instead of fading out her eyebrows and hair to some taupe color, they should have gone with white hair and darker eyebrows; her eyes would pop. She really was bland.

That being said, she looked not overly done by today's Hollywood's standards. There was more naturalness, more flaws, than what that town usually allows.

Lol. It was a bit dramatic that he was on a random island, that happened to have steps that go up a mountain.

I loved the movie. I couldn't believe Han was killed! And Kylo does look like Han. Leia looked older and sounded older then her age, 59. I didn't know the big new villain guy was a hologram, I just thought he was super big.

1103 here. Also Kylo looked like a young professor snape.

Anonymous wrote:So I'm the only one who thinks that Ray might be Ben's daughter? Given the parallels with Episode 4, the young pilot with no family on the desert planet who's good with technology is the bad guy's offspring.

Was anyone else struck by how the intro to the Force Awakens just assumes stuff we definitely did not know at the end of Return of the Jedi -- like General Leia and "her brother Luke." Who told them? They certainly didn't know, and yoda didn't tell them when he was alive, nor did Obi Wan obviously. Did they watch the prequels too?

Rey and Ben are like the same age. And Leia and Luke completely knew that they were siblings at the end of Episode 6.

Did you notice at the end of the movie, Luke seems to be standing next to what looks like a gravestone?
