Do you think having sex on the same bed while 13mo child is sleeping consider child abused?

Anonymous
Another not abuse vote here. DH and I had sex a few times when DC was less than a year old and sleeping in the same room. It felt weird to me, but I wasn't concerned it was going to do some harm if DC woke up (at which point we obviously would have stopped). We didn't co-sleep (just room-shared), and I am certain I could not have done it with DC in the actual bed with us. But abusive at 13 months old and sleeping? No.

I don't think it's child abuse. I do think it's incredibly gross. I don't even want to have sex when the cat's in the room. I can't imagine being "in the mood" while my kid was there - how does that not completely kill sexual desire?

Of course not.

As previous posters have said, intent counts for a lot. Could an older child be traumatized by viewing such a thing? Possibly, but again, it would not be child abuse.

why? just curious. do you cook naked?

Not the PP, but cooking naked invites painful splatter.

I wear a t shirt. DH wears boxers when cooking.
I burned my popped belly button when cooking once. I was hugely pregnant and wearing a dress lol

First, I have no problem with people being naked in front of their children, etc.

However, why in the hell would ANYONE think this is appropriate behavior for parents. I do not care if your child is a newborn or 10 years old, its completely inappropriate.

I actually think the other woman was bragging about it. Like it was cool they did this. Exposing a child to a sexual act whether you are their parents or not is child abuse and I am horrified that I even stooped to the level of having to type this.

All time low for DCUM on this one.

And to the OP- obviously you know there is something wrong with this because you started a thread about it. Had I just been some "crazy lady" you would not think twice about this huh?

Anyone who can justify this is horrible. I am no prude and my sex life is perfect but I have no need to risk any exposure of it to my kids.

I'll tell you "why in the hell" I would find having sex with a newborn in the bed totally fine: because my newborn was getting poked in the head by his dad's dick just a few weeks prior to him being a newborn. Oh, and we didn't just have sex with baby in the same bed, but with baby in the same BODY! Can you believe it? How perverted and abusive are we? Please call CPS now!

I agree. I don't think it's ideal and that adults should be a discreet as possible, but the reality is that having ones private room to have sex in is the exception not the norm in most of the world. I am not saying it's ideal, but it's no sociopathic either.

+2 to this.

I agree too. I have had sex with my husband while our kids slept in the same hotel room in a bed next to us. We were quiet and doing it under the covers. My kids were young (both under 4). They are now 11 and 9, and while I wouldn't consider it child abuse, I would not feel comfortable doing it with them in the room.

Really, that's gross. You are selfish. You couldn't just calm your hormones for one night? At that age, it would be bad if they woke.

You sound like lots of fun, miss priss.

I think this is all sick. Thanks. I am not calling CPS though so you can all un-bolt your doors.

I know you said you weren't going to call but this just made me think about what you would say if you did call.

"hello, CPS? There are quite a few people in the DC area that walk around the house NAKED while their kids are home and some of them even SLEEP NAKED while their kids are in the bed. And get this, a few of them think it's not even abusive to have sex while their infant child is asleep in the same bed...can you please go door to door and survey people to find these ABUSERS!?! This must be stopped"

You sound like the mother of the year! Perhaps you can print this out and paste this into your child's baby book!!!

Winning!!! And very classy. Can you please recommend your charm school? They seemed to do a very great job with your vocabulary.

P.S. 13 months does NOT qualify as a new born to watch your nasty acts - and I am sure at that age your child is more than well aware of the filthy mouth you are sharing on the internet.

Once again, congratulations Mother of the Year. Hope you are proud!!!

Can we all please start listing our religion and how dedicated/involved in it we are when we post our opinion about this topic?

The way you used the words "nasty" and "filthy" leads me to believe you are Christian and conservative.

I am not the poster that you were addressing but...13 months might not be considered a "newborn" by our standards but compared to the amount of years the average person will live, the first 2 could easily be considered "newly alive" or "recently born."
