French General Yakovleff’s response when asked about why France won’t join the US is absolutely spot on.
"We have five reasons to say no to him, in fact," said Yakovleff. "So, the first one is that he didn't understand that if he wants to carry out a NATO operation, NATO has to take command. So, there will be an American general, but it's a single operation." “You can’t have an American operation where they’re bombing whatever they can and then below that, the Europeans doing something else,” Yakovleff said. “No, no, no, it has to be one sole operation, under a NATO flag. I don’t think he understood that.” General Yakovleff went on to point out that Trump's strategic goals, beyond forcing open the strait, are vague and undefined. If NATO nations were even going to consider involvement, they would need the United States to explain explicitly in writing what the goals are. "And it's not tweets, and it's not things that change every two minutes. So, already there, it's going to be necessary for Trump himself to know what he wants," said the general. He said that there's also the issue of the lack of "confidence" in Trump. It's well-known that he regularly abandons his allies and he could do so here immediately after other nations got involved. “He would let us down whenever it suited him," said Yakovleff. He ended his tirade by comparing Trump to the captain of the Titanic trying to "sell cheap tickets" for his voyage "after having hit the iceberg." “And the last argument is American: you don’t reinforce failure. I learnt that at the U.S. Army War College. You don’t reinforce failure, you move on, you find something else.” he added. "So, there are a lot of reasons to say no." So is your "saint" Mamdani He was selected to sell extra taxation to the gullible masses while quelling the distress by pandering to the anti-Israel sentiment. Like someone correctly pointed out, it's not his job to fix things for the Dems on the global arena.. it's all theater. He didn't win "despite" Dems pushing another sh*t candidate (it was pretty clear to anyone with half a brain how unpopular Cuomo was in NYC). He was promoted to promise a bunch of unrealistic BS to the gullibles and have them also like him for his anti-Israel stance, then pivot towards raising taxes and distressing NYC RE to force more discount sales and get funding for the public-private partnerships (connected developer cronies). Also secure government funding for "affordable housing" construction at a price of luxury condos.
I am not going to be shocked if Trump's RE investor fam has a hand in this even if indirectly. The only person being "dog walked" here is you, the taxpayer
|
Hon, Mamdani has been mayor for less than 3 months and already got free childcare. I'm a NYer. Are you? I find the most psychotically-obsessed loons who hate Mamdani are not even in NY STATE, let alone NYC. My favorites, are the psychos in other countries like Australia. Sky News over there is obsessed w/ Mamdani. Who in the hell thinks that's normal??? I can't even name the mayor of like Brisbane, let alone give a damn about them. |
How is your free childcare, tell me more.. I had experienced their free Pre-K and it sucked. It relied heavily on parent volunteers on daily basis. I lived in NYC for 2 decades and have family/friends there, I go there all the time. Would you like me to provide examples of some of these public private partnership development projects that tend to cost awfully a lot to the taxpayer... given it's supposed to be basic "affordable" housing. developers get tax abatements and discounts on loans, land/infrastructure (covered by public funds if NYCHA redevelopments). They invest their own money, but there is also hefty help from the taxpayer (because "affordable units" will be included). Taxpayers who cannot afford these market rate units or cannot qualify for housing lottery foot the bill supporting the profits of the private companies and the well being of those on perpetual dole. He is continuing the policies of the previous mayor Adams with respect to some of these controversial developments where it's costly to the taxpayer and profitable for the developer. In addition he is asking for a whooping 21 billion in federal funding for the "affordable housing" in Queens for just 12,000 units. Even if infrastructure redevelopment takes half of this amount or more, it's still more per "affordable" unit than what one would pay for a decent 1 bedr in Manhattan. Are we building luxury housing for the poor at Federal taxpayer expense or are we making some connected developers very rich? Also, how do you think he is going to pay for "free" anything? Raising taxes. A lot of controversial proposals already in the works. But this is beyond this thread's topic. Back on topic: There is no Batman coming to save you. Good Democrats aren't going fix the world if Trump goes away. They are as corrupt. It's hopium. |
They are DESPERATE for him to fail, but he just keeps getting more popular. |

Well I find Mamdani noble. Like Bernie. Unfortunately, unless you change our system and not live reflecting capitalism values, it's almost impossible to help those without money here unless you steal, lie or cheat to find the money to give to them. Of course one way you can do it is to convince those with funds to give to those without. That's about the best you can do. America is simply not a society that values those without - it's a country of the strong survive and are to be admired - no matter whether they are good or evil. The only thing that America values is money, not compassion, responsibility, justice, and most certainly, not childcare for all!
Mamdani is popular simply because so many now are in the having less than having more bucket so of course want someone to represent them. I hope he succeeds in his goals but he's definitely fighting an uphill battle all the way. I hope against hope that maybe finally, someone like him can help even 1% of everyone he wants to help. |
Is this supposed to distract from the fact but you didn't answer the question or are you so stupid that you don't know you didn't answer the question? |

Start a new thread about NY, guys.
Anyway, nato is spot on about this! But now trump says he’ll “finish off” the “straight” and see how they like that ! What an idiot. |
hmm- this really made me think- this is probably another reason that americans dont have the same losing their minds reaction to schools being bombed, child victims of gun violence, starving children as europeans do, children are weak and poor so they are worthless to americans. We are ex pats right now and I am surprised by how people outside of the us have such a different relationship and view of children and childhood. children are actually treated like citizens with interests and rights, very different approach to the american approach that parenting is indulging in a very expensive hobby. |
| Please take the Mamdani discussion elsewhere and stop trying to get this convo off-topic. Please world, remain united in your refusal to help the US with Iran. This needs to be a huge, unequivocal failure for the US. And as an American, I know I will pay the price for our failure. We deserve it for allowing such a garbage person to be elected. |
If I wanted to distract you I’d throw a ball. Listen, I really feel like your inbreeding might be affecting your reading comprehension. I’ll give you a little practice and let you go back and read it again, but we can give you a fun hint. AIPAC funding is an issue now. It was not before. Once a thing is known, one can act on it. Pretend that you are buying a banana. A banana is a curved fruit that grows in clusters. It’s technically a berry, but you don’t have to worry your little head about that. Let say you don’t know anything about bananas (a fair assumption at this point). You just buy them. Sometimes they are good, and sometimes they are yucky-poo and you throw them off your high chair. Then, you learn on Sesame Street that bananas should be “ripe.” Once you know this fact you can be better about choosing bananas. Sure, they won’t all be great, but you now have information about how to shop and, on average, you can be a better consumer of bananas. Now think hard about how this might apply to voting and AIPAC. |
so what's your solution? who are your leaders? |
