I really hope the rest of the world stays strong against Trump

Trump gambled and lost (he did after all bankrupt casinos).

He thought the world would never to turn to China because of how "terrible" and untrustworthy they are. Well, Trump is even worse and even less trustworthy.

This really is the beginning of the end of this once great country. For those of us who have an out (dual citizenship), we're lucky. Feel sorry for those who despise Trump but are stuck here, namely those without means.

PP, stop the theater. You were NEVER in the fight against Trump. Having dual citizenship means you have no loyalty to either country. You are an opportunist like the Trump and the billionaires that enabled him. You will leave rather than defend your supposedly own country against domestic antagonists.

Let me clarify that as someone who has choices about dual citizenship (versus someone whose country of birth considers them as a subject and therefore belonging to their sovereign or whoever), leaving just proves you were never committed to defending the US.

Why would you be committed to a country that had every chance to avoid it, and not only did it anyway, but still has a large percentage of people that are happy with what is going on?

If Americans don’t take the house and senate back in November the country is done for decades, if not forever.

Yes, Macron has made similar remarks. France is willing to expand its nuclear umbrella to a list of countries in the EU. ***Even Germany***

As a French person, whose great-aunt received a medal for serving in the Resistance and who narrowly escaped being caught, it blows my mind that we're closing ranks with Germany in the face of our erstwhile savior, the USA, not even a hundred years after D-Day!

Mind-boggling. I can tell you that Europeans have had their whole worldview completely shattered by this bizarre leader Trump. We have far-right factions too, but the very few that managed to grab higher office in various EU nations have proven a lot more circumspect than Trump. Trump is just not well in the head. He's hurtling into another world war, and then China will pick up the pieces. WHY?

NP here. For his own selfish reasons including self-preservation. He’s busting up the country into pieces and offering everything to the highest bidders— and those he’s scared of. The guy is loaded with dirty destructive secrets that certain people know well. This is what security clearances are for, folks. To protect our country and keep power out of the hands of a dangerously corrupt person who can destroy the entire USA and alter life as we know it. Unfortunately for all of us, this douchebag who would’ve failed a background check within a minute is now POTUS and selling everything including the kitchen sink.

Canadian here. Yes Trump is a terrible leader, a despicable person, a liar, a cheater, a narcissist, probably demented, all of that.
But what we can’t understand is why you voted him in twice, and why now, with your 10x population we have, you can’t get rid of him. Why are you powerless?

I know right? It boggles the mind. The only explanation I can think of is that Murdoch and his ilk have established Fox in every nursing home and institutional living and lowly restaurant and mall in red and purple places in America, and the public just believes without questioning. Since Tea Party days, the right has hated the left more than anyone else, and has made its entire reason for living, owning the libs. So even though some conservatives have never liked Trump, they cannot see their way to voting in protest for a Democrat. Some have done so, of course (people I know), but they represent a small minority of the right: those who don't believe everything the rightwing bubble tells them.

I believe that this is firstly an information war, which has been waged for decades and has divided the public. We need to change laws in this country as to what represents news and what does not, and crack down on channels that present "entertainment" as news.

I mean….first amendment?

US offered defensive weapons to Ukraine on condition that Ukraine not attack Russia territory.

Europe should offer same to USA.

Committing to another country, I don't have an issue with. I do have an issue with people who have hold multiple passports and have no commitment to any country, except to get the benefits. They do not care about protect their so-called homelands. (Again, this does not apply to people considered akin to chattle by their country of birth.)

Americans control the House and Senate. You may hate these Americans but they are Americans who do not want to be like Europe or Haiti.

Why do people assume that dual citizens cannot have allegiance to two countries? I have two children and love them both. Loving one child doesn’t stop me from loving the other.

Do these Americans want to commit war crimes?

No, the house and senate are controlled by traitors.

Thomas Jefferson couldn’t possibly foresee what the country has become.

Dual citizen

Because you are talking with people who have no ability to understand anyone other than themselves. They cannot comprehend that other people have a range of emotions and ideas that compel them to act in many different ways. Basically they have a small mind.

That doesn't make sense, you should make it be about marrying two spouses and having 2 families that are 1000s of miles apart with different religion, culture, and values.

Back to the topic…
it appears that Downing Street is refusing to say out right that the UK will not allow the US to use to use British bases for American air attacks against Iran that are specifically targeting infrastracture like bridges or power stations.

When asked about a report for the i indicating that Britain will refuse to allow Donald Trump to use RAF bases for any strikes on Iranian bridges or power plants, a spokesperson said No 10 would not provide a “running commentary” on what the US was doing, including its use of British bases.

Why does that make more sense? Dual citizenship doesn’t necessarily involve extremes. Values and religion can be the same. Culture doesn’t have to be wildly different. Even if they are different, that doesn’t make it a problem. People are capable of complex thought and emotions.
