Why do Rs hate the LGBTQ community?

There are many gay Republicans and always have been. The issue is with the T. They think the normalization of gender fluidity among adolescents has been harmful for children. And they believe trans women competing against biological girls and women is inherently unfair. So too allowing biological males inside women's prisons, domestic abuse shelters, and so on. I'm not sure why Democrats are digging in on this issue. The vast majority of Americans are with Republicans on the issue of trans people in women's spaces.

Again - why is this even an issue to begin with? There’s a reason teachers don’t read books about periods, circulations, breast enhancements, anal cancer to 2nd graders. It just seems like a total lack of common sense.

Frankly I don’t care much about the T when it comes to all the issues you mention. No trans woman is going to rape a woman. Or rather the chances of that are far less than rape in general. People are making a big deal of something so minor. I am a Dem and I have two daughters. I am not worried at all about a trans woman competing against them. It is so so unlikely.

The only place a trans woman should be prohibited from competing is in the Olympics. It is unfair for a person who is biologically male to compete in female olympic athletic competitions. But college sports? Why not? There are so few gifted elite trans athletes that it is a non-issue, except to the Republicans who use it as a steel bat to hammer at the Democrats.

Why does anyone care? If you aren't trans, why does this matter to you? Does a trans person affect your life in any way?

If your kid is trans, so what? If they are happy, that's all that matters. It doesn't affect me, nor does it affect you.

No high school or college female athlete should have her dreams dashed because a man wants to compete in her division. No, it’s not a fairness issue solely for the Olympics.

The American people disagree with your view firmly and loudly.

Because a) they believe being LBGTQ is a choice on some level b) they’re afraid of their kids being LGBTQ and so they want all references removed out of fear their child will be “convinced.”

And it’s their right to believe that. So leave other parents alone. Raise your kids the way you want but you don’t get to force your beliefs on other people’s kids at taxpayer funded schools without an opt out.

Key word there— belief.

One day someone will sue their school district because they smoke and the health teacher dared to say smoking causes cancer and little Larla is traumatized and went home crying begging for her parents to stop smoking. And they don’t believe smoking always causes cancer because they go to the gym and feel just fine and nana and George Burns smoked and lived until 100.

No. Religions don't take much of a stance on smoking or the origins of cancer. Culturally, smoking has been more or less common worldwide. It's not the same. I know OP doesnt want to talk about religion. But it's impossible not to, when religion has shaped our culture for thousands of years.

Religion has shaped our country for the worse. Christians have caused untold amounts of suffering throughout the entire existence of the religion. Religion is at the root of every societal injustice in out history. From slavery to genocide of the indigenous populations to woman’s suffrage there were the christian’s trying to stand in the way. Just leave us alone already.

OP posted on the day parents were asking to be left alone. Spare us. All Maryland had to do was tell these parents they could opt out and it never would have needed to go to scotus. Your rights end where another parent’s rights begin.

If the parents are that sensitive, perhaps they should be sending their kid to a private school or just homeschooling them all together.

People have a right to shape the moral thinking of their children.

It’s not a morality issue though.

In what world is it not?! Get real.

Morality implies choice. Being gay is not a choice.

There is no proof of a genetic trait determining homosexuality and that isn’t the point anyway. These lessons weren’t about “gays exist.” That argument was obliterated in the majority opinion so go read it. It was about promotion. It was about the trans issue as well including the idea that you have an internal soul that can conflict with your body and that is NOT science.

Honest question- where has this been occurring? I am not challenging you. I just genuinely have not followed this closely or heard of actual cases.

Read. The. SCOTUS. Opinion.

I am asking about specific instances where teachers are teaching kids this stuff. What school and what did they teach? Someone eluded to a teacher showing kids pics of a man and boy having oral? Where is this happening? Links?

What aren’t you getting? The photos from the materials that were being taught in the Maryland classroom in this class were POSTED as part of the majority opinion. All of this information is available to you so just go read it!

I am a democrat, btw.

I have a gay son who has known he was gay since he was 11, and he never had any doubt. He’s gay.

My daughter was straight, went to college and met many, many people who are LGBTQ, especially bi. Also became immersed in lots of bisexual pop culture. She came out as bi, and even had a relationship with a girl for awhile. She is now in a relationship with a guy and no longer considers herself bi. This has been the same with several of her friends.

So, what I’m saying is that it is not a choice to be gay. But also, in many circles, it is definitely trendy right now to identify as LGBTQ so kids are convincing themselves of it. But also, college-aged kids experimenting with their sexuality is nothing new. They are just more open about it now.

Also, the more they see adults clutch their pearls about it, the more intrigued they become with it.

OP here. Agree. This is what I am saying. We need to stop allowing this to be a thing. My daughter knew she was gay at age 10. And she still is. However my sister and a best friend in college both experimented and are now married to men.

And here you go again. Who are you to “allow” other people to think differently than you? Why do you think you get to determine what everyone else believes?
+1 they keep saying they're not culture warriors and then keep pushing for a culture war. Please go live as you please and stop pushing lgbtq+ lifestyle like the christians you oppose push theirs.

Dp here. I don’t see op trying to push anything. Just genuinely wondering why you all can’t just let others live their lives. Why do you care if someone is gay or trans? Seriously, WHY DO YOU CARE? And don’t say that you don’t want your kids exposed to it. You aren’t worried about your kids being exposed to…oh I don’t know…a school shooter, or a gun at a friend’s house that isn’t locked up. I could go on, but you get the point.

OP literally just said she doesn’t want people to be allowed to have different opinion than hers.

You’re welcome to believe that. You’re not welcome to teach that to other people’s children as a condition of their attending public school. Whether you agree or not, it’s a moral/religious question and schools are supposed to be teaching facts.

DP. What exactly is a moral or religious question here? All the PP is saying is that it's normal for gay people to exist-that is a fact.

Whether marriage is between a man and a woman
Whether people can be born into the wrong body
Whether people can choose their sex

And on and on.

All of these are moral and religious questions not science, and don’t belong in the classsroom.

The Maryland curriculum was not about “gays exist.” If you read up about the case, you would know this.

None of these are moral or religious questions, especially the first one. If you feel that these are, then you have no business sending your children to public schools and are thereby proving OP's point; Republicans hate, or a least are very uncomfortable with LGTQ+ people.

Sorry what’s the latest new rights lgbtqia wants now?

Free testosterone on demand for minors?

K-12 and college sports team by what gender you feel like?

Taxpayers funded plastic surgery?

Half of all corporate board seats?

Well, lucky for you it is not one of the state standards for my grade level, so I won’t be teaching them that. Btw, what state or common core standards are you guys referring to when you rant about this stuff being taught in schools? Can you provide a link? You do know that teachers can’t just teach whatever we feel like, right?

This has already been answered. It’s the state law in places like California and NJ. Feel free to look online for examples of what is mandated in those state curricula including in the K levels.

Ok here’s what I got. Please tell me which part of this is unacceptable.

Inclusivity, not explicit sex education:
While the curriculum doesn't delve into explicit sexual content in kindergarten, it emphasizes creating a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all students, including those who identify as LGBTQ+.
Focus on respect and acceptance:
The curriculum aims to teach children about diversity, including family diversity and gender roles, and to foster respect for others.
No specific LGBTQ+ curriculum for kindergarten:
There isn't a separate, dedicated LGBTQ+ curriculum for kindergarten in California. Instead, these concepts are integrated into broader topics like health, social studies, and language arts.

Do you people realize that your kid will eventually see too men holding hands at the local Applebee’s? Do you really not want them to have some level of understanding? Do you want them to sit there confused because all they have ever heard is that all families should have a mommy and a daddy?

Also, still waiting on specific examples of teachers crossing the line.

Maybe the teacher could teach some anatomy and biology first before story time teaches a 7 year that a boy can feel like a girl and …. Pop out a baby!

- per second grader logic

Or add some stats on how it’s <<1% of the population who has transitioned

And then what % transitioned back to their bio sex.

My high schooler really enjoyed Sex Ed in PE class and how it covered all the different types of sex bt girl/girl, boy/boy, boy/girl and how important it was to know how to get PrEP.

Meanwhile 50% of American school children read, write and do math at a level four grades below the grade they are in.

Good times.
