Duh! Some of the U.S. guardrails held and some very brave officers defended Congress so they could get their job done. Trump and Musk and ilk have been planning on removing everything in their path this time. They certainly have done number on Congress, not a peep from them. And SCOTUS in his pocket. What's left the military? I hope so and of course the people of the country who are not used to dictators. I hope you are right and I am wrong. |
Yes am planning what to do. We have uk passports so can always go there but would love to try something new. In process of trying to get a global role at the moment |
This is an article with one historian talking about the similarities and differences between Trump and Hitler. The PP's comment was about large amounts of people who "experienced fascism" saying this is like what they lived through. Not the same. |
Yes I guess so. We all have passports to other countries that are highly regarded in our family. But US is home for our DC so we are hoping that things will stabilize and that democracy will prevail. There are many wonderful aspects to life in the US and no where is perfect. We are grateful to US for some amazing opportunities. We live in a solid blue state with women’s rights still in place.
We are not ready to give up on life in the US yet. |

My trans daughter is leaving her graduate program and moving overseas to accept a job in a related field. Our plan is to follow her as soon as we can. I am the granddaughter of holocaust survivors who drilled into my brain the idea that when people in power tell you who they are, you believe them the first time they say it, and you don’t stick around to find out what happens next. I hope that we are overreacting, but I am not willing to take the chance with my family. |
Yeah, if my kid were lbgtq, I would be moving them out of the country yesterday. They have a bullseye on their backs. |
I think about it all the time. We could move to the UK. What makes me hesitate is my children. They are middle age, and very happy in their lives. Have great friends and community around them. They are really adamant about not moving, which makes me hesitate to move. I do also worry about how happy we’d be day to day in the UK. It’s one things to love visiting a place… |
This has been such a repetitive theme since Trump came on the political scene. He has ALWAYS told us who he is and time and time again, voters gave him a pass and people have said "Oh, he doesn't really mean it." President Musk, Puppet Trump and monkey follower Vance all tell us who they are over and over again. BELIEVE THEM!!!! |
I thought about it but don’t have a skillset that would be valued by other countries and it would be a massive pain in the butt. We do not have dual citizenship, ancestors from anywhere viable, etc. plus I’ve learned from my research that other countries have a lot of issues too. |
100% agree and doing the same. I know the smell of dictatorship. I did not flee one to play this game again 30 years later. |
This is a genuine question: for those of you who believe Trump is Hitler, etc., what do you propose those of us do who do not have an easy out to another country?
I love these people telling us to leave and then slip in ‘yes, we are dual citizens in the UK’ or some BS. Not the reality for most people. |
My kids are not, but my kids are still the #1 reason we would move. It wasn’t great before, but it’s rapidly turning into a very bad place to raise children. If it really starts to look like nothing can be done then we will go back to where my grandparents left. |
We will probably move to Europe this summer with our 10 year old DD. We have EU passports, so we are lucky.
I’m very nervous to move, and I am also so disgusted with this country that I want out and summer seems too far away. |
Who is telling YOU personally to leave? |
