Do Coach bags carry the same stigma outside of the USA?

That’s thoughtful of them, but I get how it might not be your style. Outlet bags can sometimes feel a bit different, especially with the materials. Coach definitely had its peak around 2005, and it does seem like their popularity has changed since then.

I know that it is trendy again and their true vintage bags are great quality, but I'm not sure I'd ever be able to bring myself to buy a new Coach bag. When I was a young adult they were definitely considered "Hermes for Housekeepers": a brand poor people considered fancy and aspirational but that actual rich people would not wear.

I also probably could never bring myself to buy Michael Kors for the same reason.

I'm 48 and agree with this statement. Can't buy Coach, Michael Kors, Kate Spade type handbags. I am for no logo handbags, quiet luxury type ones. Loro Piana hanbags are calling to me recently. I have a few Salvatore Ferragamo handbags that are 10+ years old and look brand new.

I’m 40, I am old enough to remember the good quality Coach days and the terrible cloth logo days.

Have you seen Coach lately? I left the brand long ago, but the new bags are gorgeous.

PP here, I take that back. I saw one that was great, but when I went to the site I thought they were ugly.

I don't like any bags with logos.

Just from my search I created this post here without reviving any of the old threads, here’s a few where this feeling is expressed:

So, if there is stigma attached, do people start stoning you? What actually happens?

People who talk about brand stigma have a bigger stigma.

+1
I will never, ever by anything with a visible logo. THAT carries stigma, IMO.

I just bought a nice Coach bag. It's roomy, the leather is great, it has hand strap and crossbody strap. I love it!!
I don't get the "stigma" unless it's that high school girls carry these bags. So what? It's a great, well-constructed bag!
I don't carry designer bags, so Coach is a good workhorse for me.
I'm old enough to own a bunch of vintage Coach bags going back to when I was in high school! I LOVE them, but they're too small for me now. I have an old Coach briefcase that's wonderful. I don't use it because I'm remote, but I might revive it. The leather is beautiful and it has no logo. But it's clearly a vintage Coach.
