Do Coach bags carry the same stigma outside of the USA?

I buy what I think looks and feels good - not what is trendy or popular. My most recent other purchases have been Polene and Valextra.

I definitely remember when they were nice leather bags that were known to be workhorses. I stopped paying attention to them when they went to cloth and logos. I am the opposite of trendy and am now old, but the ones posted here do remind me of the ones from back in the day.

Then she has no taste and they are made poorly

Have her stop reading Marie Claire and start reading vogue

Not sure.

Exit the matrix and stop carrying a bag. Use pockets like a man.

Bags are overpriced and just another way to make women spend more money when we already make less than men. They seem as cool as pantyhose.

I like a bag. I don't want to carry my phone, wallet, sanitizer, lipstick, mints, headache meds and sunglasses and glasses in my pockets!

ITA. Went this way because there was always a temptation to overload my bag with just in case items no matter how compact, and it was causing shoulder and back problems.

I will see it is way easier to go just pockets in winter. In summer I usually end up just carrying my phone in my hand.

Women need pocket parity!

+1. I think either you like logo bags or you don't. It is polarizing.

I know that it is trendy again and their true vintage bags are great quality, but I'm not sure I'd ever be able to bring myself to buy a new Coach bag. When I was a young adult they were definitely considered "Hermes for Housekeepers": a brand poor people considered fancy and aspirational but that actual rich people would not wear.

I also probably could never bring myself to buy Michael Kors for the same reason.

There is a stigma with Michael Kors, but you are wrong about Coach. I think Saks, Neimans and Bergdorf Goodman would disagree with that attachment.

Many Coach bags don't have logos though.

I don’t think there’s a stigma, it’s just a reality that they are a lower priced designer brand so aren’t as aspirational for the UMC as other designers. They’ve sold out to be an outlet brand, and it’s value has declined as its sales volume increased. Maybe equal to or a little below Michael Kors and Kate Spade, but above Chinese brands on Amazon.

I’m not trendy and I’m in my late 40s, but I still carry a couple vintage leather Coach bags from the 90s. They still look and feel great!

I have a Vintage one that I brought into a Coach store the other day — the sales clerk was like, “I love your purse!” And I was like, “It’s Coach!” LOL

I haven’t bought a Voach bag in over 20 years. This post makes me want to buy one now.

Someone kindly gifted me a coach tote and it’s not my style. It really seemed fake because the material was like plastic, but I searched and it’s an “outlet” style.

Coach peaked in like 2005 but it’s been a weird downfall.

No, no, no. You have not been to a regular Coach store. They have gorgeous bags! NO logos, great leather.
