Coach hate

I get all the Coach hate, your mother wore the brand and it is no longer cool in some circles.

I am writing this after my $500 Cuyana tote handle came off and I noticed the inside was fake leather that started to peel. Luckily, I bought it at a deep discount.

Back to Coach.

I literally don’t care and carry my 2 coach purses everywhere and they are hardy! People give me compliments on them. And no, I don’t have the giant logo one- just standard leather. Their leather is good! They look new 3 years later.

I hear you. I am not a Coach person, but the whole notion that quality must be amazing which high priced designer brands is nonsense. I saved for months for a LV bag and within 6 months of owning it, the piping completely unraveled and peeled. It was a joke. I truly feel sorry for women who feel the need to display a price tag as a hand bag. I was once one of them, and have since recovered. It wasn’t a good feeling to need people to recognize my financial status by what was on my arm. It struck me that I was the target market as soon as the bag fell apart. Never again.

Only vintage Coach (1980-1999) is good.

It’s funny because my mom recently found an old coach bag I bought around 98 or so at her house. She thought I might want it back and at first I bulked at it but the leather is so soft and it’s the perfect size for my 40’s. lol as I guess it was in my 20’s! What goes around comes around.

FYI, Coach existed before 1980, and their designs from that time, especially Bonnie Cashin’s creations, were super cool. They are still mining that.

Those designer handbags are made by Chinese laborers imported into Italian sweatshops so they can have a "Made in Italy" label.

A series of raids in Italy has exposed the contrast between the glamorous world of Milan’s catwalks and some of the realities of luxury-goods production.

An investigation by Milan prosecutors into working conditions at local factories found workshops making handbags and other leather goods for Dior CDI 0.53%increase; green up pointing triangle and Armani used exploited foreign labor to produce the high-end products at a fraction of their retail price.

Dior paid a supplier €53 apiece, roughly $57, to assemble a handbag that it sells in stores for €2,600, or about $2,780, according to documents examined as part of the probe. Armani bags, meanwhile, were sold to a supplier for €93, then resold to Armani for €250, and ultimately priced at around €1,800 in stores, the probe found. The cost prices don’t include leather or other raw materials. The companies separately cover the costs of design, distribution and marketing.

Some of the raided workshops, all of which were in Italy, were also making products for other fashion brands, prosecutors said.

Where do you find those? I have a bunch of gorgeous leather carryalls that are too heavy for me to carry. I want to sell them.

Who cares? Carry what you want. For me it's vintage Hermès.

That's why it's better to buy vintage bags, from before that shit started happening.

Coach and Kate Spade are sturdy and hold up very well.

I also have 2 Divina Firenze triple zip crossbody bags that I got for $39 at TJ Maxx and they are holding up well after 2 years.

I was given a gorgeous vintage forest green large bucket Coach for Christmas last year and the quality is stunning. It’s way, way nicer, better depth of color, just more aesthetically pleasing than most 2K bags I see today. It’s got to be 25-30 years old and it’s beautiful.

I think I owned that Coach bag 25 years ago when I first started working. The green was gorgeous. I miss it!
