next on the agenda: how to expel a lot of progressives from the MoCo council

That said, we can definitely work to find some council members more like Elrich than the current group. He’s blue and he’s rational.

I think we've found the problem.

“The council will elect its new president and vice president for the 2025 council legislative session. Council Vice President Kate Stewart (D-Dist. 4) is likely to be elected as the council’s president for 2025, as council tradition dictates that the current vice president follows as council president the following year.“

“… councilmembers Will Jawando (D-At-large), Laurie-Anne Sayles (D-At-large), Marilyn Balcombe (D-Dist. 2), Kristin Mink (D-Dist. 5), Natali Fani-González (D-Dist. 6) and Dawn Luedtke (D-Dist. 7) are the most likely to run for the seat.”

Kate Stewart got the presidency and Jawando is the vice.

Which mean Jawando is next.

Lord.

They are going to pass the plan under Stewart and make Jawando President during that election year to be the face of blame.

Well,
They are introducing a resolution Tuesday that makes a council president step down immediately if he runs for another office. Cuz Jawando will run for CE. So maybe he won't want the presidency to begin with.

However we will see if there are at least 7 with a backbone to vote yes on this

So that is how they are going to deny Jawando the Presidency.

The problem with Montgomery County is these folks fancy themselves as Frank Underwood’s but they are actually Selina Meyer.

He doesn't have the skill set to be president. That would require him to care about something outside himself.

I don’t have an opinion on his qualifications. I do have an opinion on the bs way the Council tries to manipulate the process so that they can avoid having to go on record.

MOCO is becoming a zoo. A person who failed at Drivers Ed and always plays the race card will be a failure.

A R will probably never win county council here. So, if you want change, change your party registration. It's really easy to do. I did it twice, once to vote for someone else during the R party primary for POTUS for 2016 (not Trump), and again back to Dem to vote during the Dem primary in the local elections.

If enough people do this, it can make an impact.

I did. Voted for Trump but am registered D so I can votr out crazies in primaries.

No sane candidates bother running anymore so it’s pointless.

Anonymous wrote:How can we keep this backlash against far left progressives going? Harris did worse than Biden in MoCo. I think there is a lot of pent up sentiment in the county angry at the progressives on the MoCo council who have now rammed through upzoning that's going to bulldoze a lot of middle class neighborhoods. MCPS are failing badly due to way too much misguided focus on equity that's ruining all standards for quality and discipline enforcement. Car insurance is exploding in the area because there are a lot of undocumented individuals driving around with no insurance. Everyone is sick and tired of the county's force acceptance of crime due to the progressive council. The street racing and loud cars are out of control. Gang crime is out of control. The county is also not economically growing compared to our peers since there is so much hostile red tape.

How do we gut the council progressives out in the next elections? Who is in the wings we should rally around to bring back common sense law enforcement, tough standards for education, and who will be against all this upzoning garbage?
\

How about you move to your Red wave state and leave the blues alone? How would a red state maga person like it if I moved and tried to change their way?

The problem for MoCo is that people are actually doing this. Affluent people in MoCo are moving to Virginia and being replaced by poor people from PG County and Latin America moving in, leaving population growth stagnant. Not a great policy for a robust tax base.

There’s a group called Moderately MoCo that might be of interest to some in this thread.

Whenever MoCo voters have been given the option of a progressive candidate vs. a conservative one (MCPS school board and county council races), the progressives have won. There is no red wave to capitalize on here, OP.

Harris:

* Tax unrealized gains!
* $25,000 cash handouts for homes!
* Raise taxes!
* Price controls!
* More govt control over HC!

Yeah, suuuuuure. Progressives aren't fooling anyone trying to claim Harris wasn't a far left progressive. The progressive agenda was thoroughly rejected this elections. GOP red tidal wave, and they even made ground in MoCo. There is a lot of growing unease with how far left the county has gone. Tax increase are constant. Crime gets worse. Schools worse. Overwhelming migrations of undocumented individuals. Stagnant economy. And now they're proposing even more taxes!

She’s right of center, that’s not even debatable. You people have just been brainwashed and dragged so far right that you’d accuse Reagan of being a “crazy liberal.” The best part is when you are so transparently evil but claim to be Christian. Man, you’d better hope that there is no afterlife because you are definitely going to be on Jesus’ sh@t list.

Most of the things you mention are just parts of a mature and adult society.

The person who advocated to Abolish ICE and to provide free sex change operations to undocumented migrants is right of center?

Are you actually dumb enough to believe those things? Seriously, you Nazi red hats will believe anything. I’d feel bad for you if you weren’t such ignorant traitors to your country.

I don’t know if you’re really actually this dumb or crazy or what.

They're going to turn MoCo into Baltimore, with absolutely stifling property taxes and hostile business policies they drive everyone away. Don't be surprised to wake up one day and find MoCo is like Baltimore where you're paying like $15k in property tax on a $500k home.

Guaranteed they will next do a graduated property tax rate that soaks anyone over $2 million and just encourages more affluent people to leave.
