next on the agenda: how to expel a lot of progressives from the MoCo council

How can we keep this backlash against far left progressives going? Harris did worse than Biden in MoCo. I think there is a lot of pent up sentiment in the county angry at the progressives on the MoCo council who have now rammed through upzoning that's going to bulldoze a lot of middle class neighborhoods. MCPS are failing badly due to way too much misguided focus on equity that's ruining all standards for quality and discipline enforcement. Car insurance is exploding in the area because there are a lot of undocumented individuals driving around with no insurance. Everyone is sick and tired of the county's force acceptance of crime due to the progressive council. The street racing and loud cars are out of control. Gang crime is out of control. The county is also not economically growing compared to our peers since there is so much hostile red tape.

How do we gut the council progressives out in the next elections? Who is in the wings we should rally around to bring back common sense law enforcement, tough standards for education, and who will be against all this upzoning garbage?

I too would like MoCo to be more moderate, but I’m not sure who else is out there. Definitely don’t want Evan Glass to be the next county executive- he’s deep in the developer’s pockets and hasn’t done anything to address the concerns you noted above (if anything he seemed to support many of those initiatives!)

Montgomery County always figures out a way to make things worse. Take term limits for instance, which passed overwhelmingly because the Council was just completely unresponsive to citizens. Unfortunately, the only thing it accomplished was to turn out unresponsive but professional and more moderate Councilmembers with extreme liberals. So even though I would love to kick this lot to the curb, I also would be afraid of how much worse their replacements would be.

Evan Glass is the worst of both worlds beholden to both the developers and the extremists.

Kate Stewart, who has political ambitions, is also on the side of upzoning. She was instrumental in county approval of the City of Takoma Park's minor-master plan, which has intent to build new "attainable" housing at market rates, displacing working class families.

You need to register as a Dem to vote for a moderate during the primaries.

A R will probably never win county council here. So, if you want change, change your party registration. It's really easy to do. I did it twice, once to vote for someone else during the R party primary for POTUS for 2016 (not Trump), and again back to Dem to vote during the Dem primary in the local elections.

If enough people do this, it can make an impact.

I did. Voted for Trump but am registered D so I can votr out crazies in primaries.

IME I see bad drivers of all races, including White blond ladies in Teslas. It's scary. MCPD should really ramp up enforcement of traffic safety.

As far as gang crime I have seen some spikes here and there but I would not describe it as out of control.

Economic growth is pretty terrible. Certainly the Council bears some blame for this as they don't seem to care that much about it, but the County Executive is also just terrible.

Agree with the PP who says term limits haven't been the answer. I think the current members of the Council are way too focused on the short term and being responsive to progressives on social media instead of actually doing good.

Only a progressive would try to tell everyone that a candidate who was contemplating taxing unrealized gains (Harris) was a GOP lite.
